Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk is now open

The decor in this place makes me a bit queasy. It’s way too much for me.

Give me a slice of chocolate cake with tea in a sports bar setting. Then I’ll have a beer. 😂

By the way, why is the iced tea $9? 😳

Just how big are they? If they are huge, I could see them being split between people.
We always share, can’t eat a whole piece unless you are really hungry. If I have to guess it is probably 10in x 5in, I’ve never measured before. Last time we had a group of 6 and ordered 3 different slices to share and had leftovers.
My dil was just at the BR and Carmel store last week, they are from TN, she had the pumpkin/choc said it was ok but a tad dry. That’s what I think also, for the price it should be amazing.

The one on the left looks a bit sad. Is that how it was served? Or was the photo taken after that slice had been sampled by the diners? The middle slice look quite generous but the one one the right appears to be average size for a 3 layer cake. JMO. Perspective matters and there's no way of telling whether these were cut from 6 inch cakes of 10 inch cakes.

But all 3 look tasty.

It would help to know the size of the plates. Maybe a dessert diner can provide the information after they open.

Some posters wouls like pictures of desserts taken next to a ruler. Could someone bring a food scale and weigh the slices.

Real butter, real vanilla and quality chocolate are substantially more expensive then the artificial ingredients frequently used.

Posters are missing, or ignoring, the big issue. Everything doesn't have to appeal to every guest. CBS maybe too expensive or "girly" for many guests. So what? Some posters seem to want it to fail, just because its not for them.

I understand, the few, ESPN customers disappointed by the change.

Cheesecake Factory is a good place for people looking for large portions, with lots of calories, fats, sugar etc

CBS is not the kind of restaurant DIS nembers typically like

Amen and Thank You.

My guess was about an 8-9" plate. Salad size sounds right.
When we bought a whole cake, we had 8 1/2 inch paper plates to serve it on, and the slice barely fit, so this estimate would be about right.

The cake is very filling because it is more dense than your average cake. It took the three of us a week to polish off an entire cake.

For me, it's definitely partially that it has no appeal to me, but the other/more concerning part is that I'm worried that, if successful, this makes for an even-worse precedent for crazy-high prices than Disney already has.

Not interested at all in this place, and we stay at the Boardwalk a lot. Then again, we don't really eat at any of the BWV restaurants.
We are fortunate to live in an area with a lot of food options, including baked good. This stuff is just way too pricey. I'd rather go to the bakery in France/Epcot for a good dessert. Or treat myself at home.
We did enjoy the afternoon tea at GF, for a special occasion, so that may be an option one day, but would be a special thing, depends on pricing.

I noticed that too. But truthfully, I’ve had that happen at all kinds of restaurants & even serving cake at home. I think I’m cutting equal slices & had 1 that ends up somehow basically shorter than the rest. So that slice is a lot thinner on the inside than others. Probably shouldn’t happen with professionally served cakes, especially at this price point. The question for me is… if it happens, will I question the portion size & request a different slice.

I doubt it would really have an impact on the prices at other restaurants, though it may encourage Disney to bring in more places like it. I wouldn't care if they fill in empty or new spaces, but I wouldn't want to lose any of the less fancy options to more high-end stuff.

I had no problem with ESPN. It didn't have to be as good as some chain sports bars - it just needed to have plentiful grub and sports on TV at Disney - which is a rarity. Burgers were serviceable, chicken fingers were good, I liked the chili, decent fries and onion rings. I've had better at local sports bars, but inside Disney's bubble, ESPN was a great option.

Currently I think the best sports bar type place in Disney World is Rix at Coronado...food is OK, TVs are plentiful. Geyser Point and Three Bridges both have pretty good food, but limited number of TVs for the actual sports...still both decent options.

The problem is the paucity of that kind of place around Crescent Lake. Shula's and Phins over at Swan & Dolphin are OK for sports bars, and Fountains and Beaches and Cream for diner style food, but that's about it. I'd love to see a Millers Ale House or Duffy's Sports Grill in the former Big River space, for a true sports bar - lots of TVs, lively sports crowd, and plentiful American Bar food and appetizers.

That would go a long way towards satisfying both crowds at Boardwalk - the Cake Bake for the fancy side, and the sports bar for the casual side.
