Hi :) I just got my cake and music cds in the mail and I have a couple questions.

For the cakes, if it says the number of people served is 85, for example, and we have 40 people, does that mean we still have to pay for 85? Or does that mean we aren't allowed to get that particular one?

For the music, does it sound like what is on the cd in the wedding pavilion? I'm not a huge fan of organ music, it always sounds so funeraly to me, but it sounds ok on the CD. We might get a trumpet player, or a violin player instead (or in addition,) but I wanted to know first if that CD was true to sound.

Thanks!!

I don't know what the cd sounds like, but DF and I were doing a walk through with Gayle at the WP (she's a family friend and sort of gave us a sneak peek before our 1 year). An organist was rehearsing with a planner. He was working on "Part of Your World" from "The Little Mermaid" as the processional. It was beautiful.

From what I have been told the sound system in supposed to be excelent.
I am playing only CD's at my wedding on the 25th so PM me after then and i will let you know 100% for sure. Heh

Did you get the sheet of prices with the CD also??
They tell you what size that particular cake is, as obviously if you go smaller it will not look identical.

The cakes all have a minimum size that they can be made for, the lowest minimum is 50 people, some are more but it should tell you this on the price list.

So if you have 40 people the minimum you will have to pay for is 50. As i only have 28 people, i purposely choose a cake with a 50 person minimum as i didnt want to be paying for loads of extra leftover cake!

The music on the cd is the organist playing them to my understanding....my wedding is the 10th of Nov we are using the organist and a CD for some things so I will let ya know!!

You also have to pay the cake cutting fee per person that the cake feeds, not by how many guests you have, so factor that into the cost as well.

OK, so if the cake minimum is 50 people and the per person cost is $12.50 and we have 40 people, then we have to pay the $12.50 for each of the extra 10 people that we don't have which is $125.00. That's a lot to pay for cake for invisible people :rotfl:

Allisonswonderland: For sure, let me know! Are you SO EXCITED!?!?!? Congrats :)

Here's the reasoning behind the minimums for certain cake styles.

As you see by the pictures on the CD, the cakes shown are of a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Some cakes require the higher minimum to accurately replicate the cake as shown. Factors such as overall appearance, space for floral, and general proportion, all go into the minimum's.

Example: the Gardenia and Roses cake carries a higher minimum because of the flowers. If the cake was made for 50,and smaller tiers are used, the floral will be sticking out of the sides of the cake like big ears, instead of nicely nestled within the space allowed by the larger tiers.

I understand the reasoning, but Disney do quite a few weddings for less than 50 people, you would think they would do something to accomodate these people!

For example i only have 28 people, 1 of which is a baby and would not eat any cake - or very little and ive had to pay a cake for 50 people plus the cutting fee per slice too.
If i had the cheapest cake which is about $9 plus the $1 or whatever cutting fee thats $10 per slice, which is $220 of wasted cake!

You really think disney would be able to do a cake that didnt need a minimum of 50 people!

And yet Disney can MAKE smaller cakes. Just peek through a few of the threads where people order two tier anniversary cakes from the GF bakery... They will even replicate your wedding cake for you in a small version. So, really, they just aren't giving brides this option.

I love Disney very much but the whole cake thing just seems like an attempt to rip off those of us will less guests. They're like this with a few things and it can feel like all their after is your $$. I accepted this fact a long time ago before I choose my Disney wedding - but it still irritates me some times. :sad2:
