Well its a dreary day in Louisiana and Im not in the mood to get any more work done today so I thought I would start our pre-trip report. Now Im sure many of you are thinking are these real Cajuns or just people from Louisiana The answer is ½ of our party is a real Cajun. My husband is from down on the bayou and his parents had to learn English to go to school since French was the language spoken at home. With that being said I think I will dispel a few myths we always get asked about.
1.) Nope we dont have a pet alligator in the back yard.
2.) Nope I dont take a pirogue to work each day (been in one though .they are interesting).
3.) I hope I dont talk funny but if I do please dont say man you dont SOUND like you are from Louisiana.
4.) Yes we all wear shoes here (WHY I get asked this one I have no idea)
5.) And Yes I can cook Cajun food but no it isnt just spicy its seasoned..there IS a difference.
Now that this has been done on to this cruise and why we decided to take it. For the last 2 years Ive been in grad school, just finished up in May and around that time I had a thought ..since the whole familys routine was affected by my attending school, why dont I give a gift to them so I did .a vacation. DH and I sat and talked about it. At first we thought we would just take DS to Disney World but since he is 4 we crossed that idea off our list fast. We wanted something relaxing (and as much as I love WDW it is NOT relaxing) so a cruise came to mind, then it hit me ..the best of BOTH worlds a Disney Cruise! Thus the search began for a 7 day option that would not be during the hottest part of the year, but would also not be to far into the school year since DS starts preschool this year. Then we found it .late September through early October, two yes TWO stops at Castaway Cay, and a category 07 stateroom we could afford .this is the one.
Now the real fun begins for planners such as myself. Do we plan a shore excursion or not (in our case not since my little man like to shop well just walk around the towns), Palo or no? (nope..missed out on ressies but thats ok) to pre-tan or not well .final decision was no so when you see a very white lady by the pool promise me you wont run away in horror. At this point clothes have been bought, fish extender is being made, FE gifts have been decided upon and just need to be ordered, Son is being prepped (he doesnt want to go on the big boat until he sees all the stuff he can do), and hubby is FINALLY getting excited. We are at T minus 7 weeks and 4 days and counting. This vacation can not arrive soon enough for us. Ill post more as time permits and I think of interesting things but I at least wanted to get the ball rolling.
