My husband and oldest kid LOVE seafood and are excited to hit up the Clambake at Cape May Cafe. The other two kids and I can't stand it. Will we find much to eat or should we split up for dinner on that night?

I am allergic to shellfish and dislike most other seafood and I love Cape may.I found plenty of non seafood options there

We'll be eating there ourselves two weeks from today. From what I understand there are plenty of non-seafood items too. I'm sure they realize that seafood isn't for everyone and take that into account there.

Not a seafood lover either but have never walked away from Cape May hungry - they have a carving station, salad bar, even a kids buffet which I sometimes get Mac and cheese off of (it is good) and great desserts - don't really think you will have a problem

I'm a vegetarian and I loved our Cape May dinner. :goodvibes Lots of non-seafood and non-meat items to choose from. Salads, pasta, veggies, etc. Plus the selection of dessert is very good as well!

I couldn't agree with you more! I do NOT like seafood and was hesitant to try Cape May, but it was really good!
Our first visit was in '09 and I absolutely loved everything about it. Food was great, server was wonderful, couldn't wait to go back in '10. Unfortunately our last trip was not as good...cold food, empty platters, and really poor service. I did not enjoy it much, but I am willing to give it another shot. We have an ADR for June, so I'm hoping everything is back to normal.
I think you will have no problem finding good food to eat besides seafood. Lots of great options like prime rib, mac & cheese (SO yummy) potatoes, veggies and wonderful desserts!! My kids LOVE it there! :thumbsup2

Glad to see this post. We have ressies there too and I hate seafood but my hubby loves it. I figured I would be able to find something to eat...sounds like there will be plenty!:thumbsup2

We are trying it for the first time this May, and I love seafood! I can't wait

You will still find plenty to eat, they have a really great variety there! Unfortunately, it seems like each time we have gone the last several years, it keeps going downhill. :(

Cape May Cafe is one of my family's favorite restaurants down in Disney. They have plenty of non seafood options. They also have a small children's food area with macaroni and cheese and a few other kid friendly choices, but adults can freely eat those selections as well.
We personally go for the seafood. :D

Two of my kids and I did not eat any seafood at Cape May and left stuffed. There were more than enough non-seafood choices. My kids especially liked the pizza. It wasn't like the usual Disney pizza. It was actually good with a crisp crust and fresh mozzerella. Desserts were especially good, particulary the oreo thingys. We also had the best service of any buffet. Never had to ask for drink refills or dirty plates to be removed. Super friendly staff.

I second this. I was hoping for a few meat free options, and I think I ended up doing 2 or 3 full plates worth. So while the seafood is the obvious draw (that side of the buffet tends to have a long line) there are plenty of other options as well.

We went to Cape May with a group of 20...some seafood eaters, some not. Everyone seemed very pleased with it and were able to find things to eat no matter what their tastes were. There was a carving station with beef and pork, lots of salad and fruit offerings, ribs, delicious potatoes and other cooked veggies, beef tips, roast chicken, and many dessert selections.

We don't like seafood, but wanted to try it., we wouldn't go back. BUT, if one of my family members loved seafood, I would def go back. We didn't hate it, just didn't love it, but wanted to cross it off our list.

OMG there is so much to eat there that isnt seafood! The ribs, the roasted chicken...oh man they are fantastic!

Click on my Nov 10 or Feb 11 thread for a ton of pictures of all the buffet foods.

Cape May is one of our favorite places for dinner. My DD does not like any seafood & there are PLENTY of choices for her. This is a MUST for us on every visit and like someone mentioned, we've never had to ask for refills on drinks and they are very quick to take your dirty plate. We have eaten at a lot of buffets in Disney and we think this by far has the best variety of foods. We were there this past November and I've already made my ressie for our upcoming trip in October! :)

Oh no, I hope we don't run into this when we go in June. I'm really looking forward to trying this place, hope it was just an off night.

When we were last there (2009), I ate like a group of 20...!:rotfl2:
I had read some reviews about it, after I booked it, and they certainly weren't "stellar". There seemed to be a lot of complaints along the line of, "...not being enough of...". "...had to wait in line for...". "...they weren't bringing clams (or whatever) out fast enough...", and so on. This was only weeks prior to us getting there, and I was quite concerned. Well I guess something changed, drastically, between what I read and when we were there, because my wife and I both loved it.
Yes, the "seafood" is there (makes sense, considering it's known as a "clambake"), but everything else was very good to excellent. IMHO, you'll be fine. :wizard:
