Just returned from our first cruise. DH took oldest out and I decided to do the beach with the twins, 5 y/o. Asked the conciegre (sp?) what would be a good place to go?....she recommended the office (the excursion desk person also recommended it). So I went. Grabbed a cab (vs water taxi due to being alone with the kids and no help getting them in and out of the water plus our cooler and sand toys).

The Office, really it is a resteraunt on the beach. The beach was nice the kids loved it!! especially the surf, alittle nerve wracking for me due to a drop in the sand with my little one could get caught in, but managed that well.

What I didn't like about the place were the HAWKERS, they were everywhere all the time. I would get a few minutes, maybe, of peace watching the kids play before someone would come by with a huge board, blocking my view of the kids, wanting to sell something. It was nuts. I didn't feel comfortable there, so left after about one hour.

Next time I will ask the crew members where they go, there is a resort nearby, about 10 min by cab, (forgot it's name tho) that they go to. Heard later about this place via the Sign Language interpreters working on board that week.

I met one couple who was there only about 15 mins before they left. Couldn't sit and relax with the people in your face all the time.

Sigh....BUT ,my kids LOVED it!!

Hi! We are leaving for our west coast cruise in one week and was wondering if you had heard anyone mention the Melia San Lucas Nikki Beach excursion. That is the one we have booked. Also, did you hear anything about the Las Moras Hacienda family fiesta in Mazatlan? Thank you so much for the information! Hope you had a wonderful time on your cruise! I am counting the hours until ours!

At "the office" - the "hawkers" are not allowed to approach you in less you approach them first - The issue was your kids on the beach right there - I've been there lots of times, so I know what you are talking about - If your kids are not on the beach, there is no problem - But the ocean is so inviting, it's hard to keep the kids away from it - When we are there, usually the waiters keep the "hawkers" away from us. But we are generally there at night. It's a great restuarant with great food! - So sorry you had a bad experience - it stinks when that happens!
