Cable modem question

YUCK!

I hope we don't have 45 min. lines.

I don't know what an Emta is.

Dawn
Could be Emerging Markets Trade Association.
Could be Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority. Or Endless Mountains Transportation Authority. Or European Metropolitan Transit Authorities.
But most likely it's an Embedded Multimedia Terminal Adapter.

25 mbs. Man that is like the speed of light.
I live in a small town outside of Memphis TN. I pay $45/month for 3.0 mbs. If I want 6.0 is almost $60

Or I can do DSL for half the speed but same price.

Or Satelite Internet last time I check the equipment charges are high. Those are my only options.

Lets talk Modems for Dummies here, which one should I get so I can rid of my TWC one and the 3.95 (that was already on this months bill) ugh.

Just get the 3.0, if you can afford it. You can ask your cable provider if they have 3.0 capabilities.
eMTA are only if you have phone service through your cable provider. They do not give you TV.
eMTAs do have the capability to have internet through them.
I believe that the reason for the current start of charging is due to the FCC mandating certain charges for certain things.

Just got my new bill. It is almost $15 more! :scared1:

I called and was on hold over an hour. I finally had to hang up because I had to leave.

SO FRUSTRATING!

On a positive note, I did order a modem last night.

I don't have TWC but Comcast. I installed a Motorola Surfboard here and it was a piece of cake. I bought it used for around $35 and it seems to work just as well as the one Comcast was leasing to us.
