Oh boyI'm very worried. We have never stayed at the Cabins but have done hoop de doo review, so we thought they were walking distance to the 'settlement' We do not have a car. Should we look for another hotel? I'm mostly worried about coming back home after parks are closed and wandering in the woods looking for cabin...? Renting a golf cart is an option (I hope) but I'm worried about finding our way in the dark... Any information, or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated. (I have 3 days to cancel without penalty)
If you want to check out https://www.disboards.com/forums/camping-at-disney-world.24/ it's very Fort specific and lot's of great people there to answer questions.
The Cabins are much closer to the Outpost than the Settlement. I compiled a list of distances from the Cabins to the Outpost, Cabins's Pool, Meadows (Trading Post/Pool), and Settlement and you can find that here https://www.disboards.com/threads/f...ion-a-work-in-progress.3502095/#post-58990079 You can request a Cabin closer to the end of a loop and therefore closer to an internal bus stop.
I have stayed in the Cabins three times and twice had golf cart. The first time we did not and we stayed on loop 2800 and relied on the internal buses. It was an easy flat walk of about .3 of a mile to the Outpost if we had just missed a bus.
You won't really be wandering in the dark, there are streetlights on the main roads and the roads are well marked. The loops themselves are not lighted but seeing has never been an issue for us. If you do get a golf cart they have headlights. You can get one through Disney but if you have a car, or don't mind taking an uber/lyft, you can get one much cheaper by renting from an outside provider. It takes about an hour as you do have to go off property to get it however (Disney's rules). You meet them off property and they let you take their pickup and trailer back to the Fort with the golf cart on it. Returning also takes about an hour and you do the reverse. I have rented from Kenny's Tee Time and they have been great and there are a couple others cmpanies that rent them as well. Last I know Disney was about $62-65 a day and Kenny was around $37 a day. If only there for a few days I would probably rent from Disney, but more then 5 to 6 days I would rent from Kenny. Uber/Lyft was less then $10 each way so you have to figure that into your cost to see if you are saving anything if yo don;t have your own car.
I’m just really worried as I am slightly disabled and I fatigue easily. My intention was to let dd(21) go off to park ahead of me, while I sit by pool, relax, then join her in the afternoon at my leisure is there a strategy? Should I notify Disney I’m disabled so they place me closer? Can they accommodate such a request?
As I mentioned earlier you can request a Cabin close to the end of a loop to make it a close walk to the internal bus stops. They also have accessible cabins but they are spread all over the loop, so getting one does not mean you will be near the end however. Those also are a separate booking category so you can necessarily get one at check in.

I’m looking ultimately close to main settlement, close to pool and bus stops would’ve IDEALany idea how to get to disability departments prior to check in. It’s very difficult and frustrating to call long distance and be put on hold for 45 minutes etc. Ug
As I mentioned earlier the Cabins are not near the Settlement or the pool. The closest Loop is the 2200 loop and that is about .4 mile from the Meadows and .9 to the Settlement. But again there are internal buses so you are not forced to walk. Also the Cabins to have their own pool it's called the quiet pool as more people go to the main pool at the Meadows.
Here is a Map of the Fort

Hope that helps. Feel free to ask anymore questions.
