I have always been interested in staying in a cabin at FW, having visited the resort sveral times but never actually stayed there.

I wondered what a 'murphy, bed was - we are not from the US and don't use this term. Is it big enough for an adult to sleep comfortably?

Are the cabins near to the main store/restaurants as we do not hire a car.

A murphy bed is a bed that folds down from the wall when you need it. Since when the bed isn't in use, you put it pack up, it saves space.

I hope this picture link helps.

Transportation within the Fort is quite easy. Unlike other huge resorts where you must walk everywhere, Fort Wilderness provides an internal bus to easily get where you're going.

You will receive a map at check-in that shows the different bus lines. You will have to be on a specific line to get back and forth to your cabin. All the lines run between the Settlement (marina area) and Outpost (buses to other parks). The large trading post is at the Settlement. The main pool and recreation area is the Meadows - all buses go there too.

A cabin is a great way to enjoy Disney and relax too.

The murphy bed is the same size as the bed in the bedroom they are both "full size" beds. We find it to be at least as comfortable as the other bed.

It is not like the typical sofa bed since the mattress does not fold in half when stored. It also opens and closes easily.

Thanks very much guys - I am 'sold'

Just in case you weren't totally sold, we stayed in a cabin last February and loved it! My three girls had the back bedroom to themselves ( bunk bed and a full bed) my husband and I comfortably slept on the murphy bed together for 8 nights ( my husband is over 6 foot and over 220lbs) We were usually exhausted by bedtime because when we do Disney we go non-stop all day!:goodvibes

We did the same thing. Kids in the bedroom, and DH and I on the murphy bed. No complaints here. just as comfy as any other bed, and you have a little privacy from the kids. A week is a long time to be all in the same hotel room, we always stay here when we stay on Disney,(did all stars our first trip, never again!!! its cute but no room). but some trips we have stayed in Kissimmee in a large 2 bedroom condo type hotel for 1/3 of the price. Depends on the time of year, and trip we plan on taking. but you sure miss the extra magic hours and transportation. The cabins are awsome, you'll have a great time.
