I'm looking into the cabins for the 1st time. DH is not the biggest WDW fan but he loves fishing, log cabins etc. He has loved all the resorts we have stayed at in the past but he's just not a big park person. We are going next March for 4 nights but only plan on doing the parks 1 day and maybe a water park 1 day. The rest of the time we just thought we would enjoy the resort so I thought this might be appealing to him.
Anyways, I was wondering if 1 area is better than another. I would like to be pretty close to a pool if possible. Does this resort still have the "disney" feel or am I going to feel like I'm REALLY camping?(Never done that before-I might just love it!)
Also, I should probably ask this on the restaurant board but do can you make ps's for trails end or is it walk in only? One more question! LOL Can you walk to the marina from the cabins or is it too long with a 1 1/2 and 6 year old?
O.K. guys SELL ME ON THIS RESORT!!!
How are the pools?
O.K. I'm done now! LOL

No PS's at Trails End. It is an excellent buffet and one of the best deals on property.

FW pools are sort of basic - not themed, no slides, water falls, bubbling stuff, etc. Main pool at the Meadows is pretty large with a kiddie pool. In the cabin area, the pool is smaller.

There is a definite WDW feel to FW. Very relaxing. We are campers and FW is the best campground in the world. Hope you enjoy it!

How far is the meadows from the cabins? Should I be looking into renting a golf cart? Can you leave the cart at the marina when you take the boat to MK etc..
I have no problem walking and taking it easy but if the cart is a plus(especially with a 1 1/2 year old!) I might want to do it!

Thanks!
Kim

Alot of people who stay at the cabins rent carts. It is more convenient than the internal bus system, but pretty expensive. There are plenty of places to park at the marina/Trail's End area and you can leave your cart while you go to the parks there. There are also outlets to plug in to so that your cart stays charged.

The meadows area is about the middle of FW - maybe a half mile or so from the cabin loops as the crow flies.

So a family of 4 can't use the cart right? Only 2 seats? If you have a rental car can you drive from place to place(like pool, marina etc.) and park? If you have a cart can you take it over to WL?

The two-seat carts are designed for four--two bench seats. You cannot park a car at the marina area or the pool areas. There is 15 minute parking at the Meadow's Trading Post.

You cannot drive a cart to the Lodge. You can, however, park at the marina and catch the small launch to the Lodge or the Contemporary.

We love having a cart at FW--especially when we plan to enjoy FW more and the parks less. It really allows you to be spontaneous about running to the campfire, the beach, the shops, etc.

The walk from the marina to the cabins is doable (if you have a stroller for the little one) and the bus transportation is fine. The cart is just the extra icing on the cake! It is always our little one's favorite ride and comes in quite handy to get them to sleep at night!

I know my ds(5) will love it not to mention dh! LOL I'm definitely getting one if we stay there! How long in advance should we book it?

Reserve your golf cart as soon as you know your trip dates--up to a year in advance. They take a credit card number now but don't charge anything to it unless you are a no-show.

You'll love it!

How much are the carts? Is it cheaper to rent them for a week than to do a day by day?

In the past we have gotten a slight discount for renting for 7 days or more. I'll let you know on April 15th if we get one this time!

No, I'm not excited..........:hyper:
