cabbage Patch and Babyland General Hospital... Fun to do?

DD 13 would like to visit The Babyland General Hospital in Cleveland Georgia to see the Cabbage Patch babies. Has anyone been there. I'm thinking I can detour while driving down to Disney this August for our surprise trip... ANy suggestions? How long does a visit take, places to stay? Any info would be greatly appreciated...

we went years ago. It's not huge though.. so it won't take a long time. and remember the babies there are $$ since they are not mass produced. I think we probably only spent between 1-2hrs but it was a long time ago. (I had wanted to go since I was 13 and DH took me when I was 30

I went when it was in it's original location, but it's been a long time since I've been there. I believe the new location (in the same town) is larger.

It's pretty cute. The original hand sculpted dolls are expensive. I think like $300 each. The way they have the "kids" set up is so cute. I bought a preemie when I was there. I think she was like $200. I got to name her, got a birth certificate and such. She's small and cute. DH just rolled his eyes, but when I was in there, I kinda got sucked into wanting to buy the dolls.

They do have vinyl headed mass produced "kids" for adoption. I think they are like $80 or something.

I believe there is a Days Inn near there.

It's close to Helen, Georgia which is a cute little town that reminds me of Bavaria or something. That's the way the buildings are made. Cute.

I think Babyland would only take a couple of hours max to see. I'm not sure how much out of your way it would be to go to Babyland though.

I'm 34 and went as a child - I must have been around 10 or so. It's STILL one of my favorite memories. It was wonderful!

We went last summer, and my girls really enjoyed it. The new location is large, and admission is free They have both the "original" babies (the handcrafted cloth ones) and Cabbage Patch Kids available for adoption. The Cabbage Patch Kids are a little more expensive than the ones you can buy at Wal Mart or Target. We spent a couple of hours there. My Mom has a timeshare in Helen so we were there for the week, this was a nice day trip.

Wow! Your post made me remember I went there too as a chiild when I was 10, I'm 37 now. It was the one time we went on a family vacation that was out of the tri-state area. We went to Babyland General on our way back from WDW. It was cute and alot of fun. That's about all I remember from it so I can't help much, but thanks for reminding me of that memory!

Oh, I always wanted to go there when I was little! I never made it...maybe DH would take me now...

I live in Dahlonega and it's only 30 mins from there. We LOVE going to Babyland. I remember coming up to visit from Fl as a child. My Grandfather bought me an orginal years ago and my DD loves to take her to visit. You could spend maybe an hour or so there.

I would stay either in Dahlonega or Helen. Helen is a German town with cute shops and places to eat. Nearby is Unicoi State Park that has places to hike. There is also Anna Ruby Falls that is an easy walk to see the falls. You can tube the Chatahoochee river and there is also a mini waterpark. Plenty of places to stay as well. Also a good mexican resturant there but the name escapes me.

Dahlonega is a historic gold rush town. Cute shops to walk through around our historic square. There is also a gold muesum and gold mine. Good southern food can be found at the Smith House resturant. The only place I would stay is here is the Holiday Inn. Dahlonega is also close to Ga 400 into Atlanta.

We've been going almost every June since DD was a baby. She's 26 now. I'm down to one 13 yo son at home, but still we visit. Our stays are shorter now with fewer photos, but it's still a fun place to spend a little time.

There is a hot air balloon race the first weekend in June in Helen that we have been going to for 27 years. I've only missed a couple of years.

I am 30 and it is one of my favorite childhood memories too! I remember waiting for the newest cabbage patch baby to be born and how excititing it all was. The people watching could name the newborn. I guess my parents were the loudest because she was named after me. Can't wait to take my own daughter when she gets older! I call her my cabbage patch doll she has the dimples!

We haven't been since they moved to the new larger location, guess I need to get back there. We did go a couple of years ago, but I didn't buy one on that visit.

We love to go on up to Helen and stay for the night, the area is beautiful.
