Cabanas--Served or Buffet??

DCL advises that allergies are best handled in the MDRs. That may depend on the allergy and concern about possible cross-contamination like "processed in a facility" warnings. You used to be able to ask for a manager to walk through the buffet with you and discuss options; I assume that is still available. But in the MDR you can pre-order meals the night prior, and those will be prepared in the allergy kitchen.

Thank you.....my daughter is the main one.....but also very picky.
She has an allergy to wheat,
One is cheese, so easy enough (usually) to tell if something has it
The other is mustard which can be hidden in sauces, etc.
All adults, so I will pass the info along and they can decide what they will do.

Don't forget to add the allergies to your reservation so DCL has it on file for your cruise.

Churro Mickey waffles? I'm already in love! (Although I have a kid on the spectrum who wouldn't be happy about all the different flavors and not having regular ones. Do they have both regular and flavored ones?)

They only served one kind at a time so when it was churro Mickey waffles those were the only kind out. On the bright side, I'm pretty sure you can make a special request for the regular kind even if you have to go to the MDR breakfast and/or request for your table the night before.

Thank you! That helps me prepare him. He'll eat a lot of churro ones though! No clue what things will be like in June when we cruise, but at least I can give him a heads up this way. Thank you!

If you’re a fan of the omelettes in cabanas in the morning, beware, you could no longer get omelets in cabanas any more. I cruised both the Dream and the Fantasy and this was on both. You can only get omelettes at the sit down restaurants. I hope it comes back. I’m not a fan of cruise scrambled eggs.

Wonder if this would work on the ships? I ate at a buffet in a restaurant today and they made everyone wear vinyl gloves before entering the service line. No staff to serve you. Seemed brilliant to me, and something I had not heard of. Of course on Disney if might be harder to do because some younger children might not follow the procedure before serving themselves.

In Europe I have seen this a lot at hotel breakfast self-serve buffets.

That would create a lot of waste and go against DCL's environmental initiatives. And people, especially kids, will still touch their faces with gloves on.

I would happily do that vs. having stuff served to me. Or worse, that “butlered buffet” setup that @orum mentioned. Urgh.

And if gloves allowed them to bring back more variety, so much the better.

But you make a good point about the kids. I wonder if they could pull off something, like, kids under 10 must be accompanied at the buffet by an adult, so someone is there to make the kid glove up (or glove up themselves and serve the kid).

I've seen it a couple of times where a kid takes a bite out something on their plate and not like what they just had then put it back on the buffet. :crazy2:
