Is there a way to take a Taxi from the Ship/Dock to the Atlantis Resort?
And,
Can anyone just walk into the Atlantis Resort and take advantage of their Casino?
AND,
Are there other Casino's in Nassau?

THANKS!!!

It's very easy to catch a taxi to Atlantis and, yes, anyone can just walk into the casino. You can also walk around a part of the beautiful grounds. I don't know if there are any other casinos, but Atlantis is so big and beautiful I'm sure that you will be more than pleased with it. Really, don't miss it. It is great!

There's also a water ferry between Paradise Island and the dock where the Wonder ties up.

While it's generally cheaper than a taxi for one or two people, two warnings ...

1) They sometimes seem overloaded (and probably are)
2) You have a bit of a walk to get to the casino (1/4 mile ?) that's pleasant enough except in hot weather.

There is one other casino in Nassau at the Wyndam Crystal Palace ... a bit smaller and a bit more "Las Vegas" than Atlantis though I'm told the payouts (and the risks) are not quite as rich as Atlantis. Bahamians and residents are allowed to gamble in the casinos so I can't give you personal experience. Sorry.

My DS will need a wheel chair at Atlantis. We just want to go for the experience of seeing (and trying our luck) at the casino. Will the taxi driver be willing to put the chair in the trunk? (we will have our own) Also, how handicapped friendly is the casino? He has no trouble in the states --- Shreveport, LA and Las Vegas.

Should be no problem on both counts ... Atlantis is wheelchair friendly (with elevators where appropriate) and if the first cab won't fit the wheelchair there are plenty others who will be willing.

Good luck ...

They're almost all vans/minivans, not cars, so a wheelchair should be no problem to transport over.

The ride was $4 per person each way in Febuary. There are posted signs as to what the fare should be- confirm it with your driver before getting in, have read a few like to pull tricks.

There are a huge group of cabs waiting at the end of the dock. And also ones at Atlantis, should be no problem getting one either place.

The casino and the main building and some of the grounds are free at Atlantis, to see the rest and tour the acquarium, it's $25 adults, $19 4-12, under 4 free, get wristbands at a kiosk under a blue globe in the middle of the casino.

Waterparks require a room at Atlantis or the Comfort Suites adjoining the Atlantis property.

Oh, and if you want to see some pictures, just click on the link below and go to the nassau page.

Hope that covers everything :)

Just one note - the vans from the pier won't leave until they are full. We were made to wait (maybe 20 minutes) until the van was full. Looking back, we should have gotten out and found another cab. I'm not sure if you can tell them ahead of time that you want to go right away, but it's worth a try. Don't repeat our mistake, the inside of a van is not what you want to spend time looking at in Nassau!

Thanks for the information. I think we have decided that the ride to Atlantis and some time in the casino will suit us just fine. Lots cheaper than the excursion from the ship and is more in keeping with our needs. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Usually the larger the group the quicker you'll get going. When we were on the Member cruise we got together with another couple and a mother/daughter combo and got a cab right away. He must have had other people waiting as it ended up with 10 of us in the van.

If you make it clear you want to go right you can do it. It seems to me they sometimes have one person trying to coordinate full cabs. Make it clear up front as far as rate and how quick you want to get going and you should be fine.

You'll get quicker service in the first hour or so after you dock as that's when many people are getting off the ship and looking for cabs. As it gets later in the day the crush isn't there and they may try to wait for others. If you make it known you are going to look elesewhere if they don't get moving that should motivate them.

I am wondering, any problems waiting for the cab to fill up for the ride back to the ship from Atlantis? We will probably stay at Atlantis until close to suppertime......

Thanks!!!

There were plenty of cabs at Atlantis. There was a long line of empty cabs. We were loaded into one (with 2 other couples) and on our way in 30 seconds.

We took a limo ride over to Atlantis on two cruises and we did not have to wait or share with anyone else. It only cost $1 more per person. On our second trip, my mil was with us and she uses a wheelchair - the driver was most helpful with it. We got his phone number and when we were ready to leave someone from the casino customer service desk called and he was there within 15 minutes to pick us up. We did not see any elevators in the casino area but they did have a platform lift that was operated by an employee that she was able to use.

It is a long walk to the taxi area for someone pushing a wheelchair. There is a courtesy shuttle bus but it does run at its own pace. Our first trip we waited about 20 minutes or more for it. Our second we were lucky and it was just pulling up to the ship as we were coming off. Again, the driver was helpful with the wheelchair.

How did you get the limo? Did you reserve it in advance? Is there a number? Was it a "nice" limo, or as beat up as the local cabs?

The limos are in the exact same spot as the taxis. We were walking towards a taxi when the driver had called out about riding in the limo. The taxi was a 15 passenger or larger type van. After seeing the 2 my dh wanted to do the limo. One was a town car and the other was a cadillac. The cadillac did have a slight scrape on the side but it still looked much better than the vans. We had 4 people the first time and 9 + wheelchair the second.
