cab or bus with resort change?

My daughter and I will have mother daughter only trip in april
to save points we are staying at pop on our first Sat. night then moving to AKV.....I know we can check out of pop hit the parks and catch the AKV bus to the new resort to check in there....my question is if it would be better to take a cab and take our bags with us to AKV in the early am? I am worried about "being taken for a ride" (over charged) by the cab company, but I am also worried about not taking my bags to the new resort myself if we take the bus......
does anyone know what the cab fare is between the two resorts? Any experience with this would be great.

Let Disney move your bags. They will be there when you check in. Chances are your room will not be ready anyway and your luggage will still have go to bell services.

We always switch resorts from value to DVC and back to save points and we just send our luggage. It has always worked great and you don't even have to be there for bell service to pick up your luggage. It really is painless even on the busiest days of the year. Enjoy your "Princess" trip!!

If you take a taxi, i was reading on another board, to make sure and negociate the rate before entering the cab. So, they don't take you for $$, once your in the cab.

I've never used a cab at disney.....

These cabbies rent their cab from Mears for a 12 hour shift for $xxx.xx(I forget what the guy told me), their take home is what is left after gas and this rental fee. When we don't have a car, we take cabs all the time. It wastes to much time to take a bus to a hub or park to go to a different resort for dining.

We do the same thing. I'm just too exhausted after a long day to wait for the buses, at least the buses for POR. Their lines at park closing are always soooo long. We grab a cab, it's usually around $10..well worth it as far as I'm concerned. And also for dining. That $10 saves so much time and aggravation. We don't do it all the time. AKL has pretty good bus service so when we're there we only use cabs from resort to resort. Only 1 time were we most likely overcharged. The cabbie acted like he was new and kind of lost Well, I had no idea where we were so I could have really been "taken for a ride" alright. He knocked $2 off the fare. who knows how much I was ripped off. I was too tired to argue. It wasn't the 1st time I was ripped off from something and I'm sure it wasn't the last. Just be careful.

Ask the people at the bell stand out front how much the fare will be. They will know within about $2. It shouldn't cost over $20 to go anywhere on property. It willl usually be about 13-15 bucks. Take a cab save the time, energy and aggravation.

I can't remember for sure, but if my memory serves me right I believe we paid about $8.00 from Coronado Springs to AKL. So I would imagine it would be about the same. Although that was in 06 and the gas wasn't as crazy back then, so I'm sure rates have climbed. But it will be in that general vicinity.

During our visit in January, I became ill and we had to leave our lovely reservations at the Yachtman's Steakhouse. The bell captain quickly called a cab and we were back at SSR in about 15 minutes. It cost about $12. We were happy to pay it.
