CAA vs AAA

Good evening everyone!

Are there any Canadians on DISboard that can speak to whether or not CAA membership is honoured, just as AAA membership is accepted for discounts at Disney restaurants, etc.? My Mom and Dad are joining us from Calgary and they are CAA members (and my Dad's a cheapskate :rotfl2: ). I'd love to tell him that he gets a discount at certain places using his CAA membership. TIA

Cheers! :santa:

Unfortunately he won't get any discounts at disney restaurants only discount is if you have a AP even AAA gets no discount

I think it might work for the AAA discount at Earl of Sandwich at DtD but as PP mentioned there aren't other AAA dining discounts at the resort.

I remember on a trip to Universal Studios we bought dinner. The cashier asked if I had anything that got me a discount, and mentioned AAA. I said I had an expired card. She asked to see it, and said "I saw it" and gave me the 10% discount.

Disneyland doesn't have it, but occasionally I've randomly gotten an AP discount. Once it was displayed as a Club 33 member discount, although someone said they'll do that because there's a button for that, which is easier than the steps to enter an AP discount.

Both cards are basically the same thing. I've used my AMA cards numerous times for discounts in the States. Never tried at Disneyland tho. Any motels that take AAA will also take you CAA card.

I've used BCAA (BCer here) in places where AAA is accepted quite a few times. :)

I was able to book my reservation and get discounts with BWPPI using my BCAA card. I only had to show it at check in to confirm the rates. The savings were really good at this hotel with the BCAA card. Since I had to bring it with me for my hotel reservation, I also used it at Earl of Sandwich to get a discount there. Even though they had never seen one before, because it was attached to the AAA program they gave me the discount. Unless the company states the discount is for USA only, you can use the card to get discounts, but you have to make sure before using it.

This happened to me for an entire year with my Premium AP. At first my friends thought it was hilarious, we'd joke that we were going to ring the Club 33 bell and see what happened. But then I started paying closer attention to what happened when CM's entered the discount on the register. They'd run everyone's AP card through the scanner, no problem. They'd run mine 2-3 times in both directions, then do an override. I guess keeping the AP in my pocket messed up the magstrip. It was probably just easier to hit the Club 33 button than the PAP button, and the discount must be the same. It was a fun year where everyone wanted to look at my receipts, and we had a lot of laughs about it.
