C25K! Anyone else in?

W5D1 completed. :thumbsup2 It went really well. Running is starting to feel more natural to me and that's a great feeling.

I did find today a bit easier than week 4. The longer recoup times really helped. And that 4th interval was always the tough one so cutting it down to 3 made it seem easier anyway.

Cool. I'm starting that tomorrow. Swim practice tonight!!! :cool1:

W6D2 done today. I have to skip tomorrow. I got a job today. So tomorrow I have to go do my employee screening. I dont know weather to be happy about the job or not. I get bored being a SAHM but I really just want a little something to fill my time. I guess we shall see if it works out. Today was better than yesterday but not quite as good as my 20 min day. I guess the last two days has me wondering if I will ever feel like I did on my 20 min run. I really pushed it at the end of today and felt better about it than yesterday. Ho Hum.

I just finished w3d2. First time running AFTER wearing heels to work, and my arches are killing me!!!!!!! I actually ran faster today than Sunday, so that was a plus for the turtle.

IWISHFORDISNEY - good luck on your new job. I hope you like it!

Wow, W5D3 complete! I can't believe I actually did it! Definitely my biggest accomplishment to date. I think I will absolutely be able to handle the next 4 weeks after this. I ended up at 2.3 miles once I was finished, so I'm only roughly .7 away from 5k! That is with 5 minute 3.5 warm up and cool down though.

Good work everyone!
IWISHFORDISNEY - Congratulations on your job!

Flipflopmom - I agree with the others. I felt exactly the opposite last week and I was wondering why I wasn't getting as far as others. Turned out I was going too fast! You've just got to find what you're comfortable with and since I changed my speed I've been able to run for 8 more minutes straight than I usually was before. Everyone is right, endurance first.

Congrats on the job! What will you be doing?

While we're sharing good news.... I'll be changing jobs on March 6th.....I'm going to be a CM at WDW!!!! I got laid off in July and applied then, but nothing full time came through. My patience was rewarded though, and I can finally leave my crappy temp job and work for Mickey!!!

That is awesome!! I wanted to be a CM too but I am a nurse and they only had entry level positions therefore I had to choose pay over desire. I got a job at Wuestoff Hospital as a Nurse casemanager. Supposedly per diem to work around DH's schedule. We shall see if it works out. I want to add a bigger lanai/screen/hottub to the back yard so.... Hi ho Hi ho off to work I go.

NO running for me today. I think I will take the day off and just walk. I have my employee screening today.

Do you know what your job will be? I can live through you!

Wasn't easy, but I finished it. Each day is a challenge because I haven't lost any weight. So mentally it's frustrating and physically it's hard on my body (still 240 lbs.)

But I'm still going.

Good for you for sticking with it even though you're not losing weight. I know how motivating it is to see results. Have you noticed any changes in your body even though the scale hasn't moved? Sometimes there are great things happening, but we don't necessarily realize it at first.

Hang in there - you're doing great!

I chose desire over pay..it's going to be rough for a while but I truly believe that the long term reward will be worth it. As it stands now, I'm making ok money, but I have no benefits, no opportunity for advancement, a lousy commute (can you say I-4 parking lot?) and the job is just miserable. With Disney, I cut my commute by more than half (none of it is on I-4), I get discounted rent, benefits and a potential to advance. On top of ALL that I'll be working for a company that I completely believe in.

I had a tough swim practice last night, but I hope to get in W5D1 in tonight.

I started W4D1 yesterday...HOLY COW! It was tough!!! I did ok until I got to the last 5 minute run. I had to take a little more recovery time between the 3rd and 4th run. I made it through that last run, but I had to take it very slowly.

Hope W4D2 tomorrow is a little easier!

It's interesting how everyone hits W4 and goes :scared1:. The leap is HUGE and I think it would have been better to add another week instead of jumping from running 9 minutes to running 16 minutes. I only got one session in where I could complete that last 5 minute run..but I'm moving on anyway.

I actually think I'm going to have less trouble with W5D1 because there will be 3 minute walk breaks in-between instead of that lousy 90 seconds you get in W4 between the second 3 min and last 5 min run.

I had done so well with Week Three and had no idea Week Four would be so tough! Those recovery times are just too short! If I need to repeat it I will, but I'm hoping to be able to get through it this week so I can move on to Week Five.

Got new running shoes and inserts today, so maybe they will help!

I finished W3D3 today. The three minute runs are doable, but not necessarily easy. I'm debating whether I should repeat the week or move on to W4. When I tried the C25K program before, this was the point where I gave up on it. However, my stamina has improved a bit since then. Any suggestions? :confused3

I think week 4 is one of the toughest. You want to go into it with confidence. I say do another day of week 3 and see how you feel then.

I would at least go ahead and try it, but keep in mind it is a big change from Week Three. I was just not prepared for the short recovery periods. The runs, while tough, were not ALL that bad...I just had to take a little more recovery time before the last one. And I went VERY slowly on that last run!

This is a good idea, too. I might even add a Day Four to Week Four just to make sure I've "got it in the bag" before I move on to Week Five. I'd rather not repeat the whole week again, but adding one more day might work!

That's what I've done throughout the program. I've never repeated a full week, but I have once or twice repeated one more day of the week. Usually by day 3 of each week I'm starting to improve so sometimes all I need is one more day to boost my confidence that I'm ready to move on. :thumbsup2
