Day 6.5 - Friday, Oct 8, 2004

Me, 29 - I think we've established I'm an amazing looking gal with gorgeous curly hair and a great sense of humor. A perfect catch, wouldn't you say?

FI, 28 - I think we've established he's been the butt of my many drunk jokes and could stand to eat a little healthier. But what a hottie, eh?

So, this is the last day. We've park-hopped and napped like a couple 80-year olds. Although I don't know any 80-year olds that race each other down stairs and brake at podiums.

Actually, today we don't have too much going on but a lot of driving. But later I will need to recap my objectives...hmmm, did I meet them?

princess: :groom:
"We're glad you're here...

...now get the hell out, we got other people checking in today!"

Man, I had no idea Mickey had such a potty mouth.

But hey, it's true, we're checking out today. So we shower, pack and load up the car. We decide to experience our last Disney moment at DTD. You know, soak up every bit of WDW atmosphere and buy some last minute souveniers.

Our first stop is the World of Disney. Here we buy my sister and her kids some stuff. She and her three children (and husband I guess, but he's been out of town all week) have graciously looked over my dog while we've been away vacationing. So we get the little girl a sippie cup, the middle boy a large WDW pencil and the eldest girl a Mickey keychain. I get my sister a mug and basically tell my BIL he can share with her. Not that I have anything against him, but did he do any of the pet sitting? I think not.

Next stop is the Art of Disney store. By far my favorite shopping stop of the trip. I just adore any Disney art. They have these new canvas pieces that are really colorful and a little abstract. I WANT ONE. I NEED ONE. At $150 it's really not a bad price, but *sigh* we have already spent our budgeted amount of art money this year. $47 doesn't go far, ya know. I leave sulking and poke my lower lip out at Kory. "Maybe for your birthday", he says.

FYI, birthday comes and goes and no art is to be seen. But I did get a digital camcorder, so I forgive.

So we go into the Christmas shop because I want to collect an ornament for each trip we make, this being the inaugural one. Very important. It's not terribly busy, but it is nearing the holidays so they have lots of stuff out. Kory takes a seat and I wander around and check out what they have. After about 10 minutes I pick out a cute Beach Club ornament for about $20. I walk up to the counter with two girls behind the counter. One is working on a huge purchase so I chose the other cashier thinking its gonna move quicker. I patiently stand in line behind a women in a motorized vehicle-thingy. She's got a basket full of ornaments, but it shouldn't take long. While we're waiting, let me ask you a couple questions to pass the time. Food for thought, it you will.

When you're eating an banana, have you noticed the little stringy pieces that come off don't taste as good as the banana itself? They're kinda dry I think. So I like to peel them off and then not only do I have a peel on my table, I have little sticky banana strings.

How about if you trip and no one is around, do you still make that "whoops" comment? I bet you blush, too. Admit it, you know you still get embarrased! How about if you forget something in public and need to turn around...do you make the comment, "Oh yeah!" and turn on your heels? You know you just look dumb if you just turn for no reason.

Let's check on that line. Nope, she's decided to get a few more ornaments and the cashier left to get them for her. Anyway,

So what do you do with your boogers when you pick them? I heard the #1 spot for discarded boogers was underneath the couch cushions. Remind me not to come to your house and sleep in the living room. Might wake up with crusty, green friends on my face.

Now when you go to the beach, don't you wonder how the hell sand got up THERE!?! I mean, it was supposed to be covered by a bathing suit. I think we should all write to our bathing suit manufacturers and demand more secure bikinis. If big, grainy pieces of sand can get up there, we'd better watch out for plankton. They swim.

Is that lady done yet? Ahhh, she's decided to have the ornaments monogramed. OKaaaaay...

Answer me this. My parents bore 4 girls, two are married, one (me) is engaged, one is gay (gay is apparently a marital status). They paid for the weddings of the two married girls including my first wedding. So when I tell my parents I'm getting married again, they say they'll contribute X amount of money, but not foot the bill. I ask if I can have the gay sister's wedding money and they say no. How's that fair...she doesn't need it! :)

Why can't guys do a load of laundry correctly? Doesn't everyone know you don't mix whites and darks...you never wash and dry sweaters? Yet I have 4 pink tees and sweaters that now fit my 9 yo neice.

Are we done yet? I guess lady up here has 40 grandchildren.

Have ya noticed I'm stalling? Huh? Ya think?

Who DOESN'T think they could host a reality home show? Marianne Curan, that Whang chick from House Hunters...come on, I can do that! I'll do it for a cheap $500 an episode! And are these people wannabe actors who haven't scored yet in the big leagues? Or did they go to Wink Martindale's College of Hosting? Maybe they graduated at the top of their class? "I have a degree in Home Improvement and Reality TV Hosting. I want to work for TLC". And speaking of House Hunters, I love that show except they can never find people who act like they've never seen the house before.

"Oh. wow. honey. look. at. this. room. the. kids. would. love. to. play. with. their. toys. here."

Then the realtor, "You're. gonna. love. the. spacious. master. bedroom. Lets. go. now."

(And the house-hunting couple in unison)

"O. k."

Oh great, this woman wants more of the purple ornaments and less of the pink. Off the cashier goes. I'm tempted to leave my post and try another counter, but I've already put in so much time and effort!

Speaking of, how often have you waited in a line too long because you're afraid that even though it hasn't moved in 30 minutes, the moment you leave your post, it will? And then you'll be stuck in another line doing time while the original line happily moves along? You know the people are secretly laughing at you. "Ha, you idiot. If only you hadn't been so impatient."

Ok, this is ridiculous. Maybe some deep, audible sighs will trigger a line move.

*sigh*

*sigh*

*sigh*

Oh it worked! The other line is clear and I get to move over. OMG, that only took 30 minutes and there is hardly anyone in the store. After I make my purchase, I find Kory who hasn't moved from his cozy chair in the last 45 minutes. Not even to come look for me! You know he musta seen other bored husbands and wanted to guard his seat. His territory. I'm surprised he didn't whip out his youknowwhat and mark it.

Well, its like 11-ish now and we need to get on the road. We grab some lunch first, me at that Earl of Sandwich place and Kory...well, why don't you guess? For old times sake.

Come on...guess!

You don't have to be crabby about it. I'm the one who stood in line for 30 minutes for one stinking ornament! Plus, I'm about to be out of your life forever. Won't you miss my fun games?

He had McDonalds, alright? Sheesh.

So we eat, pee and load up the car. It's time to head on outta this crowded place. And I'm not sad to leave. The weekend crowds really start to get to me.

So the key to not missing Disney when you leave...go buy one ornament at DTD. Works every time.

Well folks, that's it. The drive home was boring and uneventful (thank goodness for the latter. I don't think I'd know what to do if I saw police people doing cartwheels on the side of the road).

So, let's recap. Did I meet the goals I set?

1. Stay in a deluxe so he gets the full, luxury experience of Disney. Yes, we did. And being at the Villas was great because we had a kitchenette. Fridge = cold beer.

2. Take him to at least one character breakfast, most of the fireworks finales and all of my most favorite rides. Um, we did pretty good here. He didn't LOVE Splash or POC, but I think that will come with time.

3. Have nice, sit-down dinners at least half the meals. We didn't do half, but we did have some great meals. O' Canada!

4. Introduce him to Mickey. Hmm, he met a couple princesses. And while not ideal, he did see Mickey from afar.

5. Let him have as many cheeseburgers and as much beer as he wants. If he’s full of beef and half intoxicated, the battle is practically won. Oh I don't think I even need to dignify this with a response.

6. Make his birthday so special, he feels the “magic”. I think I definitely accomplished this. There really is no better way to birthday than at WDW.

7. Buy lots of souvenirs on his dime . Yup, I think I paid for like one souvenier!

8. Allow absolutely no pictures with the Princesses. D'oooooh!

Did we reach the mother of all goals? A goal so important, it deserved two numbers!?!

9 & 10. Have him love Disney so much that by the end, he’s asking ME when we can go back!

Sorta! All I can say is that when people asked how our trip was, he was the first to go on and on about some of the rides, the service and the food. I'd say that was a SCORE!

But when I got home, I checked my mail and actually got a postcard. You remember these guys, right?

Thanks for reading, I've enjoyed writing and hearing your comments. And about the winner of the Brand! New! Car! ....

:)

I loved reading the entire saga! Gotta say I didn't like that 'making us wait' thing between installments, but hey, its your reports and your perogative.

LOVED EM! give us a shout when you tie the knot.. good luck! he seems like a keeper for sure!

Loved your trip reports--I am sorry to see them go. You represented the South very well. So are you going to tell us the secret you are couting down to when you've counted all down??

I have to admit ( ) that I actually snorted with laughter at your description of the people on House Hunters! You nailed it! Too funny...

Great report!! :cheer2:

Well I promise it wasn't a suspense thing I was working on. I just have to devote a block of time to writing a day and frankly with work, wedding planning, moving and Kory, it was so hard to find the time.

Goody! I have an idea, want to see if I'm right!

How sad it's over. You may have took froever to write this whole saga but I loved reading it. :earboy2: Be sure to post how your wedding goes and I can't wait for your next trip report. Thanks so much!

Love reading your posts. You're parents are kinda mean though. If they don't have to pay for your sister's wedding then they SHOULD pay for yours!

loved your reports - thanks so much for putting so much time and effort into them

I also love house hunters and sometimes hit the mute button because I hate the "lets go look at the backyard" "OK"

have fun with the planning!

I loved your trip report !

And I still love that GREAT pic in your siggie ! It really is the sweetest pic ever !

Thanks for the final installment Allison. Great writing! Best of luck to you and Kory; you seem like a great couple! Be sure and let your friends on the DIS in on your "secret".... :smooth:

I have so enjoyed your trip reports! I have never read anything so entertaining before. I hope you will to write a "trip report" for your wedding! Please say you will!
:flower1:

The funniest and most entertaining trip report I have ever read! I agree, we need a wedding version!!

Allison, loved your trip report! By far the most entertaining I've read. Best wishes to you and Kory. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Excellent reports!!! They were very entertaining and I think you may have a career as a writer.

 :cool1:

Allison, between yesterday and today I read your entire trip report. You are so hysterically funny! Okay, I'll just get this out of the way: I have been a delswife fan up to this point in my DIScareer. Yes, I spend almost as much time on the DIS Boards as I do at work, so I do consider this a career. Nevermind I don't get paid for it. But as I was reading your reports, something inside me began to change. And then it hit me: your report is better than delswife's reports. So now, I am a proud vettechick99 trip report convert. I might even go out and get a Mickey tattoo on my back...do ya think 42 is too old for one?! :earseek: Now, for that endorsement I think that I should win the Brand! New! Car! Whaddaya think?

WOW! You guys are so nice. I'm beyond flattered on what you've all said...the words are so kind.

This really floored me! Delswife was my inspiration and to have anyone to even compare me to her and her work, is so amazing. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for their patience, I know it took forever. But I hope it was worth the wait.

And maybe I'll give a wedding and honeymoon report. With Kory's friends and my family, there's bound to be some antics. Or arrests.

I really loved reading all of your trip report! And yes, they are right up there with Delswife's reports! (if not better!)

Thanks for sharing your vacation with us!!!

Good luck with the wedding and can't wait to hear what the surprise is!
