Bypass anything in Animal Kingdom

Is it based on a schedule of times, or are they there all day - rotating characters?

We were there at 10:00 when the characters came out at Camp Minnie-Mickey. Minnie, Mickey, Donald and Goofy were there. On the way back to the Discovery Trail, Lilo and Stitch were outside the Beastly Bazaar. Chip and Dale were posing at the entrance to the park as we were leaving in the afternoon.

I would skip Rafiki's Planet Watch.

I like the 2 walk through things, love the safari, love FOTK, like the Flights of Wonder show, like It's Tough To Be A Bug, like the Kali River Rapids if it's warm enough. I haven't seen EE yet.

hmmm, i'd skip mgm ( ;) )

actually we only planned on 1 day at ak( our first time thereand i foolishly listened to some of the naysayers on dis :teeth: ) and ended up spending another 1/2 a day and wanting more. if i had to skip i'd skip the boneyard,& the dinosaur dumbo thing( forget the name) since the ride is basically dumbo and the boneyard for kids although worth a walk thru to me.

if you enjoy animals at all. no way i would skip the trails as the animals there are not the same ones as on KS, the gorilla exhibit is excellent, i'd never seen a kimono dragon up close and personal(hehe, not too close though) and the CMs know a lot about the exhibits. that was a highlight for me

Rafikki planet watch was interesting too as i had a conversation with the cms about the animals diets i thought was interesting and would love to see the vets in action sometime.

however, i know "learning something new" and "vacation " is an oxymoron to some so i will just say, we loved ak

Could you get close to the animals at Rafikis Planet Watch? Do the trainers/vets let you get a look at the animals, without touching?

If you really only have 1/2 day to spend there, you may want to avoid Conservation Station. Don't get me wrong, it is rather enjoyable, but the wait for the train there and back and the longish walk to the exhibit after the train ride (along with seeing the actual "science-y" exhibits) take up a large chunk of time.

There is a petting zoo area with goats and llamas. You can pet them or not, its up to you. There are cm's who can explain things about the animals but I think those farm type animals were the only ones you could pet. Maybe I'm wrong however. Its kinda neat going over there but it does take a chunk of time. I would definitely do FOTLK, Flights of Wonder and the Safari Ride over Rafiki's Planet Watch with your grandma. Also the Pagnani (sp?) trail is wonderful, thats where all the gorillas are and its beautiful. Again, there are places to stop and rest along the way.

With only half a day I would head straight to Everest, if you love it and don't mind the walk grab a FASTPASS too, then go over the bridge into the back enterance to Dinoland and ride Dinasaur(it will still be less than a 10 minute wait), come out and do Primevil Whirl, this would take you possibly the first hour but probably not (again it depends on your walking speed). Then go get FASTPASSes for Safari if you can(depending on Everest). Go to Kali River Rapids(if you don't mind getting wet and their is time or Everest if it is time) and then head over to the 10:20 Lion King show (you will need to be there or headed there by 10. At this point if you got a FASTPASS for Everest you would be in your window, get passes for Safari and ride Everest. If you didn't get on Kali ealier do it now. Stop by the Tree of Life and see Bugs Life, then head up to Safari with your FASTPASS. You have hit the major attractions and are ready to head out (I think the bird show, Rafiki's planet watch , and the walking trails are all great but in 1 morning you don't have time to do them all) If you have some extra time because you used the EMH morning then I would advise trying one of the trails- in Asia you see Tigers, in Africa- Gorillas.

We love AK. We spend 2-3 days here. I can't imagine missing anything. I love all the hidden areas. The theming is so great here! I'm so looking forward to AK this year with EE. I have this scheduled as my first full day on our Vacation!
