Bye Bye Stitch Supersonic Celebration!

I just don't get why Disney doesn't realize that people have had it with Stitch. For a mediocre movie that doesn't rank with any of the Disney classics, they've come up with one of the most disliked MK attractions, now added another disaster, toilet-papered the castle, changed the monorail spiel, modified Downtown Disney (remember the broken down van) and created a character meal ('Ohana breakfast). And for what? Nothing!

OK, off my box. Sorry 'bout that...

I'm not sure why they didn't see this coming- Stitch's Great Escape is generally regarded as pointless/boring by most as well. The character is beloved by some, but isn't that engaging to most. While he fits with the theme of Tomorrowland, they'd be better off redoing the celebration as well as SGE into something that actually interests guests.

Ditto both of these posts. Sorry, but as soon as I first heard of this show, I thought it was a dumb idea.

I must disagree about the character meal, though. Lilo and Stitch just fit in so well with the Poly.

1. We are relying on what OP is stating, there's no link so it's just heresay.
2. If there is a link to this, how reliable is the original site with this sort of info.
3. Has there been an official statement made by Disney?

We should know better by now, not to get swept into discussion about an unconfirmed statement.

The DIS won't show the website if I post it, so thats why I didn't post a link. Its coming from a couple different sources off of a reliable site. Im sure if you google, you can figure it out.

ok I did a search and only site really stating this is wdwmagic, there's no mention of official statement or who the source of this info is coming from.
So still it's heresay.

Aww that is a shame. Well it wasn't really popular when we were there in May. There was maybe like 10 people watching. I think if there was like a show with Buzz or something it would be more popular.

My kids would love to see something with Phineas and Ferb!

In this thread people have suggested that many folks don't like Stitch and many don't like WALL-E and that their films were not very well known or recieved.

But,
just stop to consider how many guests would even have the slightest notion of the existence of characters named Phineas and Ferb!

:rotfl:

I hope it doesn't last long although I bet they give it more time than this. Here is a big factor - Stitch is rather scary - Phineas and Ferb, not scary, Walle not scary, Buzz not scary etc. ... although my middle dd doesnt love those shows she is not afraid of them. However at 4 she is afraid of stitch so we won't be watching this show. At least pick a character to center a show around that is not rather frightening. I have known a lot of kids who find Stitch scary and I just don't think his appeal is universal enough to carry another attraction/show.

How about bringing back a blast from the past?

Walt Disney's The Story Of Menstruation -- Presenting the Story of Menstruation. A Walt Disney Production Through the Courtesy of Kotex Products -- was originally delivered to the International Cellu-Cotton Company on October 18, 1946. It runs approximately ten minutes. It has been estimated that the film has been seen by approximately ninety-three million American women. Neither sexuality nor reproduction is mentioned in this influential film, and an emphasis on sanitation makes it, as Disney historian Jim Korkis has suggested: 'a hygienic crisis rather than a maturational event.'

there could be a host of funny characters.

My niece will be so upset if there isn't a Stitch Show at WDW. She was looking forward to seeing it in October.

Speak for yourself. This is one person who hasn't had it with Stitch!

I will say, however, that there are probably better vehicles to use him other than the current Stitch attractions.

Me too, I love Stitch! I just wish he had a better attraction.

Stitch disappoints me, but it's not the fault of the character. He's may be mischevous, but he's also funny, and the whole "strength of family" message behind him is an excellent one. My kids love him, and to be honest, it seems that most kids do.

That being said, I'm not at all sorry to see this show go - the videos of it made me embarassed for the performers. Stitch has a lot of potential, but he is not being showcased well in WDW, if you ask me.

Since this is currently nothing more than a rumor posted on a fan web site, I've moved this thread to the Rumors and News board. :)

I am not Disney... but this statement is VERY RELIABLE!!!! ;)

I was told that the last date would be June 27th.

However, I know it's easy to point fingers at Stitch, but there are A LOT more factors that were involved with the show's closing that are not character related. So I don't think it's necessary to blame the poor little blue guy.

Remembering that Tomorrowland is futuristic there are not many characters beyond Buzz, Stitch and now Wall-E that fit in that theme. While Phineas and Ferb have lots of fun experiments, they are considered more current. I keep hoping Tron will pop in somewhere (maybe with the sequel it will), we all have our hopes.

Speaking of the tron thing i just thought what if disney made a tron ride where your in the computer on those tron motorcycle thingys haha i forgot what they were called.... They could make it all virtual and what not. But some kids now a days may not even know what tron is. But i do think maybe disney should update a few of the old movies to rides

Thanks for the "official unofficial" confirmation.;):)Considering that the High School Musical street show began its "run" in Tomorrowland before moving to Hollywood Studios,I suppose it is "possible" the Imagineers could put something "non-futuristic" there. But,I agree with you,it will most likely be limited to "futuristic" characters.:)

How about something with Phineas and Ferb? They really need to do some stuff with NEW characters, not Stitch. He is not the headliner figure they are trying to make him into. And why are they trying so hard? That movie is old!

not the headliner? "That movie"? which of his 4 movies are you talking about? Seriously, 4 movies and 67 episodes and he's not a headliner?!

Hopefully in a few years there will be something there for Disney's upcoming John Carter of Mars although since the hero is from the Civil War I guess that fits Frontierland or Adventureland more than Tomorrowland! How about an Incredible's show?

Uh, no. I'm obsessive about keeping track of Disney's animated features, and I didn't even know there was a second movie, let alone a third and fourth. If it goes straight to video (or is made for TV) and is never advertised, it definitely is not a headline maker—I'm not sure I'd even call it a "movie." And three low-rated seasons are also not a headline maker.
