Bye Bye Stitch Supersonic Celebration!

not the headliner? "That movie"? which of his 4 movies are you talking about? Seriously, 4 movies and 67 episodes and he's not a headliner?!
Quantity does not equal quality . . . . .

Uh, no. I'm obsessive about keeping track of Disney's animated features, and I didn't even know there was a second movie, let alone a third and fourth. If it goes straight to video (or is made for TV) and is never advertised, it definitely is not a headline maker—I'm not sure I'd even call it a "movie." And three low-rated seasons are also not a headline maker.

The thing is, the movies WERE advertised...heavily. And the series originally ended after the second season, but due to a large fan petition, a third season was made. Plus, Japan gave Stitch his own anime series that is still running. Just from that, you know Stitch has a large fanbase, the problem is, the way they market Stitch just isn't effective. I personally love Stitch myself, but I can see where people could dislike him.
I would like to see the show, so hopefully it is just a rumor...until I see it anyway. If not, I don't see any reason (except for they seem to disown it) that it could be replaced by some kind of TRON show. Phineas and Ferb would be great, but would probably fit better in Fantasyland, due to the fantasy-like setups.

I just wanted to make sure this didn't become a rumor... There are no plans for anything Tron related, that was me making a joke.

But yes, the show is cancelled. I know three people in it, contracts are ending and others are being transferred to other entertainment venues.

I caught a showing of this "Stitch" show and could barely keep the vomit down. It was so embarrassing i cannot believe that someone like that could ever come to fruition. Anything put into its place will automatically be better, even if that includes bulldozing the entire stage and filling it with garbage.

And if they put in a Wall-E Show.. i would be so happy!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Wall-E:love:

That was quick! I thought the show would last at least until Space Mountain was refurbished.

So with that view, HSM was a complete flop then as its only had two straight to video films, and one full release so far. No Tv shows.

I dunno where to begin with comparing Wall-e or Phineas and Ferb against stitch in terms of success!?

You may not particularly like stitch, but denying he's a success and "headline maker" is just nuts!

Saw the show on June 7 and it really wasn't that bad. However, they had trouble getting anyone to watch it. Part of it is the lack of shade, the other part is traffic is slow in the area due to the closing of SM.

IMHO, the sho just needs a tweak or two and shade. Add cover from the sun and the show will become instantly more popular.

I totally disagree with all the Stitch haters. Lilo & Stitch was, to me at least the best Disney (non-Pixar) movie in recent memory. Stitch is awesome, and cute. He has a huge following in Japan (as do the Aristocats, which I don't get). I haven't seen the show, but just from pictures online, it seriously looks like a clunker regardless of the character who stars in it. The same can be said of the Encounter attraction - not Stitch's fault just a really awkward story.

That said, there are a number of things that would better fit the area.

Stitch's SuperSonic Celebration at the Magic Kingdom is expected to close within the next two weeks. The show has only been open for around 6 weeks, but has failed to win over audiences.

1) Yup.
2) Imagineering strikes out, again.
3) Getting to be a familiar story.
4) Like a broken record.
5) Broken being the operational word.

Hi guys, this is my first time posting, I read the boards almost everyday and decided to join today! How did you get your pictures and visit information on your posts?

I agree about needing something with Phineas and Ferb. This show is my son's favorite Disney product ever. It would really appeal to older boys, he's 11 and I had a hard time finding appropriate activities for him on our last trip. An exciting pirate show would be a good idea too.

How about something with Phineas and Ferb? They really need to do some stuff with NEW characters, not Stitch. He is not the headliner figure they are trying to make him into. And why are they trying so hard? That movie is old!

Um... Wrong. Stitch is actually one of the most popular characters out there... good revenue on merchandise sales, popularity, etc.

I just don't get why Disney doesn't realize that people have had it with Stitch. For a mediocre movie that doesn't rank with any of the Disney classics, they've come up with one of the most disliked MK attractions, now added another disaster, toilet-papered the castle, changed the monorail spiel, modified Downtown Disney (remember the broken down van) and created a character meal ('Ohana breakfast). And for what? Nothing!

OK, off my box. Sorry 'bout that...

Because only a few peopel like yourself have had it with Stitch. Stitch is an extremely popular character with good merchandise sales.

Just get rid of stitch!

I agree Stitch has to be one of the least successful movies and least liked character. Why can't the Disney Imagineers realize this and drop him!

Anything would be better than Stitch -- please or please drop the Stitch wake-up call too! Give us more of the fabulous five! Why not an actual ride with Mickey and his pals. I can't believe they don't have an actual ride with Mickey and pals.

The current Stitch fiasco could be modified with the fabulous five characters. It could be like a live version of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse show in which Donald or Goofy messes things up and the others have to help reset order.

Wow... Amazing how wrong you are about Stitch's popularity. Just because YOU don't like him, doesn't mean he isn't liked. He is EXTREMELY popular. Seriously, do you just make stuff up all the time?

We saw one of the first showings of the Stitch Supersonic Celebration during the first week of May. DD is a huge Stitch fan, and she liked seeing Stitch, but the rest of the show was a mess. I think they'll probably rework the show and keep Stitch in it, and I won't mind seeing the rest of it go.

We also didn't care for the lack of shade. Can't they add some kind of sun shade in that area?

Is there any truth to the rumor that they're converting the area into a special BLT entrance to the MK? :rolleyes1

How about instead of adding shade they just hand out free samples of Beverly? I'm sure that would make any show super popular regardless of the character. :thumbsup2

1) I think the current show is an homage to Joni Mitchell
. . . "Tear down Paradise and out up a parking lot."
2) Pretty well ill-concieved and even more poorly executed.
3) They runined a potentially good area for this "attraction".

Of course I could not resist a plug for P+F having their own show. They could base it around the boys crazy adventures and combine it with Perry fighting Doofenschmirtz. Imagine guest appearances with the giant robot Norm.

P+F does relate well to alot of ages. I find the jokes funny with great sight gags (remincent sometimes of the old Bugs Bunny Groucho Marx skits.) Even my 3 year old loves to watch.

The show has lots of songs that would easily translate to stage and get lodged in your head like "smalll world".

For those that don't get the title: Doofenschmirtz's inventions always end in the "inator" suffix

Well, I watched a video of the show and it wasn't that bad. Of course, I'm sitting at home in air conditioning and not in the blistering heat, but still. It has its moments of clunkiness, but I enjoyed it.
