It was announced in the Wall Street Journal today that Eisner will not seek to renew his contract which expires in September 2006. Although Eisner (62) makes it clear that he is not quitting, but deciding on retiring. No plans on who will be the "Big Cheese" next. I know this is good news for many people who have noticed the decline in Disney over the past 10 years and blamed it on Eisner's tunnel vision to the cash pile.

YES, I cheered when I heard that on the radio this morning. Hopefully they will find somebody else better to run the company after Eisner.

MY VOTE IS FOR ROY DISNEY, HE IS A FAMILY MEMBER, AND HOPEFULLY WOULD BE THE NEXT BIG CHEESE...................ROY DISNEY IS TRYING VERY HARD TO RESTORE THE COMPANY AND BRING BACK THE MAGIC TO THIS WONDERFUL COMPANY. WE LOVE YOU ROY!

HOORRRAAYYYYY!!! I couldn't wait to hear this news - made my weekend! Goodbye Darth Eisner and your evil empire.:cloud9:

only 2 more years.........

I believe Eisner is grooming Robert Iger (I think that's his name, maybe it's Richard) to be his replacement. I don't really know anything about Iger.

With the power of the Board still behind Eisner, my money is on Iger. I nearly puked when I saw Presler on the WSJ short list, though. Dreaming would be Jobs or Roy.

Pressler was on the short list? Yikes! Who else did they list?

Roy has gone on the record many times saying that he does not wish to run the company. And, frankly, I don't think he'd be a good choice. Disney needs someone who can understand and run a multi-media conglomerate, and I don't think Roy is that guy. Besides, with all his yacht racing and telephone company buying, he's got enough on his plate.

As for "trying very hard to restore the company," there hasn't been any word from the Roy and Stan camp lately, has there? I don't even recall Roy, Stan or Shamrock Investments posting any sort of message of support to the CMs in Florida who were struggling with Hurricanes Charley and Frances, and I don't recall any donations to hurricane relief coming from that camp either. I'm not expecting Roy to show up at the MK and meet & greet with CMs, but a little message of "all you CMs are in our thoughts" would have been nice, considering how many CMs backed him in the initial SaveDisney.com efforts.

But, that's just an opinion.
