I totally agree with the last few posts. I don't expect to get the dining discount, gifts, etc. What I was refering to is crisi's comment about room requests. I do not make a stink when it comes to my requests. If I get what I paid for (PV,WV,BWV,etc), than that is all I can ask for. Everything else is just that, a request, not guaranteed. Correct me if I am wrong crisi, but in your post you made it sound like I have no right to request a BWV with EPCOT/fireworks view if possible because I am a renter. What did you mean by "if you get the best view for the trip-what do we owners get?" If an owner and a renter both request the EPCOT/FW view, than the owner should have the right to that room? We might as well just say that if a family on their fist trip and a family on their 10th trip both make such a request than the family on their 10th trip should get it because they have been here before.(I am sure I am going to get flamed for all of this!) All I am saying is that I made a request and I hope it is taken into consideration with all the others equally. I am hoping to be a DVC member soon, this is a trial run.

No, I said some people were touchy about renters getting "the best" view. Some people here feel that renters should get the "last choice" rooms. If you find an owner willing to book you a BW View and get it, that is a guarentee, and you are entitled to place your requests regarding "high floor, near the elevators" or whatever is important to you. But have reasonable expectations regarding those requests being filled. My ONLY request on our last trip was non-smoking - and we were in a smoking room. Members post here all the time that they didn't get what they requested. And, as Diane said, we members have little recourse when it comes to not having our requests met. A renter won't even be able to complain to Member Services.

The "best" implies the "one room that is better than all others." Posts that ask "what should I request to get a good view, I'm hoping to be able to see fireworks" seem to imply reasonable expections. Posts that ask for "the best" view seem to imply the poster will be unhappy with a less than ideal situation.

First of all the DVC is a flexible time share opportunity. If you can't use your points you may bank them, throw them away, rent them, heck you can even GIVE them away. It is up to the owner. If someone rents points from a willing owner, the two parties are both getting what they want. The rentor should not be penalized by being placed in a less than desirable local. Does this happen when you send your sweet old parents for a rockin' vacation in your place?

Second, the "touchy" members ought to chill. Last time I checked, anyone could be a member... with the right amount of cash. (I don't think bloodlines are taken into consideration.)

Third, people who rent pay alot more per point than those who buy a membership. $10 per point for 1 week vs $89 per point for 40 weeks plus. Even with the yearly mtnce fees!
