We currently have a one BR Villa at the BWV. It was going to be my husband, child, mother, and myself. Now my dad has decided he can't miss the action. We tried to book a 2 BR, but no luck. They do have a 2 BR at Old Key West. We have our flights and have taken the week off. We can't change weeks! I get along well with my parents, and they want my husband and I to enjoy ourselves at night while they take care of my 3 year old. The 1 BR has a Queen sleeper and a King bed. We have a portable trundle for Robbie (we travel a lot) and he'll probably pile up between us anyway. What should I do?

The other problem is the 2 BR may not be available tomorrow when I call back.

Thanks,

Allison

OKW is a gorgeous resort. We stayed there last October, and plan on staying there again.

The room was spacious and clean (of course, it's Disney!). The resort has a beautiful, quiet, charming atmosphere that we found very appealing.

You'll love this place!

You could get by in the one-bedroom since your child is small. However, you would be much more comfortable and everyone would have more privacy in the 2-bedroom....remember that will also give you 2 bathrooms. :)

We loved it there - the units are huge!!! It really isn't far from all of the action, either.

I agree that you would be mcuh more comfortable in a 2 bedroom. In the one bedroom, your parents would basically be sleeping in the living room and you would share the bathroom. There are 2 closets, but not much drawer storage space for 4 people.
For a whole week, you would be much more comfortable in the 2 bedroom. Togetherness is nice, but having a little private space is really nice over a whole week. OKW is a very nice, laid back resort. Our favorite thing is to sit on the balcony over coffee each morning while the kids sleep in. OKW has a huge balcony compared to the other DVC resorts - there's a regular size table with 4 chairs.

I'm a DVC member who owns at BWV. Just love the resort and especially its location. That said, my advice is to take the 2 bedroom at OKW if you can get it. OKW is also a lovely resort and for your group and touring plans, the 2 bedroom will be much, much more comfortable. You will be amazed and impressed when you see the room. Enjoy the trip!

PS, You will not need to bother with the portable trundle at OKW if you go with the 2 bedroom, and no one will have to sleep in the living room. There are two queen beds in the second bedroom!

I am also a DVC member with my home resort at BWV and I love this resort, I greatly prefer BWV, VWL & BCV DVC resorts because of their superior locations and the deluxe resort amenities available. But I have to agree a 2 BR will give you much more room and your parents will have their own bedroom. OKW is a nice resort, it is very quiet and laid back and has the largest 1 BR out of all the DVC resorts, it does not offer the deluxe resort amenities that the other DVC resorts do (other than bell services), has very, very limited dining options (1 restaurant and 2 pool bars), has no nighttime entertainment and it is not located in a very convenient location but if you have a car and don't mind driving you will be fine with the location and you can always drive to get to restaurants, nighttime entertainment, parks, etc. The boat from OKW to DTD which runs to about 10:00 PM is nice and another transportation choice besides the bus or your car.

I would go for the 2 bedroom at OKW. Its gorgeous, huge and very clean.

I don't want you to get the impression that OKW is sitting way out there in the middle of nowhere. We spent half of out stay in March at VWL and half at OKW. The boat ride to MK from WL was about 15 minutes, if you stop at FW, about 8 if you go directly to MK. The bus ride from OKW to Epcot or MGM is less than 15 minutes if you are on the first stop and have to ride around the whole resort and was 8 minutes when we got on at the last stop.

Either I have always been very unlucky or you are just lucky because I have never had such short bus rides from OKW. It has always taken at least 15 min just for the bus to go to all the bus stops, load and unload before even leaving OKW property. We have always had bus rides of 25-30 minutes to all the parks, DTD is very quick though since it is almost right next door.

I've had lots of quick bus trips for OKW to the parks. The ride has never been the problem -- it's just hitting it wrong (getting to the stop just as the bus had left) that can make for longer times.

Back to the room topic, I would definetly choose the 2 bedroom at OKW. You will have more privacy and lots of common space to hang together.
