I think I've been looking at some older websites/info. Are there categoreies of rooms/views beyond either Standard or Preferred? Thanks.

Yes. Preferred is now broken into two. Boardwalk view is now it's own reservation category and is guaranteed if you have it. Prederred view is now considered a view of one of the pools, gardens or canal.

Look for the DVC Point Charts link at the top of the page. All of those are up to date.

As far as point cost goes - there are only two categories. Standard view and Preferred view. As HBC posted, the Preferred category has two reservation categories - Pool/Garden and Boardwlak view. The BW and Pool/Garden views cost the same number of points. So you will only see two categories on the Charts.

Because there were so many requests for BW view (and only a limited number of rooms available that qualified as BW view), DVC established the two booking categories (about 2 years ago). That way members knew up front whether or not they would get a BW view. Stopped some of the upset at the Front Desk at check in.

I received my room confirmation in this morning's mail. The wording DVC uses is:

'Vacation Home Type: 1-BEDRM GARDEN/POOL VIEW'
