How hard has it been to get a standard room during the first 2 weeks in Dec? Are we talking gone by 9am at the 11 month window? 10 month window?

I'm hoping to book for 2014, but we'll be out of the country until mid Jan. To add to that, I'm using some transferred points so I'll have to call in.

Should I book what days I can online and then call in when we can hoping they are still there? Or just scrounge up enough points for a Pool/Garden view?

TIA!

Does DVC still allow "associates" on the contracts? If so, you can designate someone else to make your reservation for you while you are out of town. If not, I would make a reservation for as many weekdays as you can online and then call later to add the weekends.

I would say studios are gone within the first hour at the 11th month window (likely the first 10-15 minutes)...can't comment on other room sizes.

First week of December: highest DVC demand week of the year
Second week of December: third highest DVC demand week of the year
(Christmas week is only second)

If you want BWV standard during that time period, safety dictates that you reserve exactly 11 months out. 1BRs will last longer than others but studios and 2BRs can be gone quickly -- for a few of the days during the first week of Dec 2013 studios and 2BRs disappaeared by 10 a.m. exactly 11 months out. Other days took a few days to close out. However, you need to keep looking everyday because a closed out day in the first week of Dec can reopen again later in the first or second week of Jan (apparently people are changing ressies continuously during that time, many via "walking" a reservation). You should book whatever you can exactly 11 months out and then see if you can add later (even via wait list if necessary because wait list can often come through). Pool/Garden view will stay open much longer.
