Our first trip home to BWV. Let me just say, I didn't want to leave. Too short a trip! Hubby couldn't make it so it was just me and the 2 kids. I know that when he does go on the next trip he will really be impressed.
First nice surprise was at checkin. We arrived at 11:30 and our room wasn't ready but we were told that we would be getting a boardwalk view. I had reserved a preferred view so this was great. Got changed in the Mustles and Bustles bathroom and headed off to the pool.
At this point, I had already gotten a bunch of welcome homes. This made me feel really welcome. The kids loved the clown slide and the coconut smoothies. They were to die for.
Got into the studio at 4:00 and unpacked. Room was clean but I checked on lights and a few needed replacing. The light in the bathroom was so dim that I had maintenance put in a brighter light and remove the cover altogether. This was much better. Other than these little things, everything else worked great.
The weather was hot hot hot. It did rain almost everyday in the afternoon just like I was told. I think I like the fall better.
During the week we ate at Spoodles, great meal, ESPN Club, very good, and snacks on the boardwalk. I was a little dissapointed that there wasn't a "Roaring Forks" type restaraunt at BWV. This is so convenient at WL to fill up your cup or get a snack while at the pool.
We did take a short trip over to WL to pool hop one day. I must say, this is still our favorite resort so far at Disney. I just love the feeling I get when I walk into the lobby.
Walked over to BCV on the last day to eat lunch. Not at all impressed with beaches and cream. There was a real funky smell while we waited for our food which by the way was awful. The hamburgers were not cooked all the way and just tasteless. Oh well, maybe it was just my bad luck. Also, waiting 30 minutes for bad food didn't sit well with me. Maybe the ice cream is better. The resort looked beautiful but very busy at SAB.
We did hit 3 parks that week and saw a lot of shows and fireworks. What a great time. I really miss it. I would really recommend BWV to anyone who hasn't stayed there yet. :firefight

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip! We'll be staying at BWV for the first time this September and we're really looking forward to it. I just love hearing so many good reviews.

Glad you enjoyed the trip, BWV is our home and we love it! Sorry you didn't have a good meal at Beaches & Cream. We have always had great food, so maybe it was just a bad day.

Any tips on travelling with just the kids?

Bring minimal stuff on the plane. I only allowed them to have a light backpack each so that it didn't turn into "mommy carry this for me". Also, I had my backpack to keep my hands free. They were both very helpful in staying right by my side the whole time. My 8 soon to be 9yo son was the daddy and watched his little sister for me. Have snacks for the plane. The airlines don't give any food anymore unless you pay for it. And this was food they wouldn't like anyway. Other than that just try to be organized with all documents and you will be fine.

Allears has great tips on traveling to WDW with kids. Click on the link below and then go to the planning section right on the top of the page. There is a separate link for various age groups: traveling with toddlers, infants, preschoolers and ages 5-11. Even a link for educational experiences at WDW.

Thanks!

This will be my first trip with the boys, without DH. I have the solo thing covered.:hyper:

My boys will be 5 and 7 and we are staying at VWL. They are very excited. I see you still dined at sit down restaurants too! (I dont know why I was reconsidering that as they will sit still) I am planning on us having a nice meal. Did you have a stroller for your DD. I am definitely packing lighter and we will rent a small car. I will just have small carry-ons.

Iratherbeinwdw THanks for the link!

Degli....thanks for the report. Sounds a lot like my report for the same period! :p

In fact, I agree with so many of the things you said...about VWL, about Boardwalk needing a "Roaring Fork" type counter service, and the overall favorable impressions of the Boardwalk area.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. And yes, it was plenty hot, wasn't it? :sunny:

Wow! You were upgraded to BW view! How did you like it? We are trying it (boardwalk view) for the first time next month:teeth:

I too agree it would be nice to have a roaring forks type place at BWV.

Thanks for sharing your report!
