BWV Standard view

Deleted some posts…please do not share the real time availability including screen shots…you can certainly mention that looking like walking is happening, or general comments, but no specific dates about what is still there.

Because if they were allowed, the boards would be inundated with availability requests.

Availability changes so often that until you are actually ready to book, a check really doesn't mean much anyway.

Though I may try for some standards eventually, especially if doing a 2 br or something for substantial point savings.

To manage expectations, just remember that all BWV 2BR are lockoffs, so when standard studios are gone so are the standard 2BR. You’ll have to be quick, especially during Fall Frenzy!

It was a big problem ages ago. People would post "Can you check availability at such-and-such date at resort X." It's took up the whole DVC page. They eliminated it over a decade ago.

Yes, I am aware that some rooms go very quickly, and of the lockoff problem. That's why I'm getting more info so I know how to be as quick as possible when I do try for hard to book rooms.

That's also one of the many reasons I bought into BWV and AKV as some of my home resorts. So I could try to book some standard view BWV or value/club level at AKV occasionally. I have enough points to book the other better boardwalk view or savannah view room types so I will just take the rare bookings when I can get them.

I tried to book today at the 11 month window right at the 8am mark. Prior to booking I checked the exact number of rooms being available, there was 1 room available plus very few rooms for the next day.

I got the room

I dont believe in the thought that my computer was faster than someone else's - Im located in Europe and even if DVC have servers in Europe they still need to talk to the mothership and that gives everyone else in the U.S an edge as they don't need to wait over those like me living in Europe. I know the wait is short, and depending on the connection between DVC europe (if that's a thing) and DVC U.S the waittime is not in seconds but in milliseconds.

For some rooms even a lost nanosecond could mean that you don't get the room.

Why did I get the room - maybe I was lucky maybe I wasn't. Currently my stats for BWV rooms are good - value not so much, I hope that will change.

Ha! I tried to get that room as well! I actually got it, but had messed up as I’d selected 4 nights instead of 3 and didn’t have enough points without borrowing… so had to release back in to the wild at about 10 seconds past! Glad you got it… will try again tomorrow!

Sorry you didn't get it - the odd part is that I got to the contract selection part before 10 seconds past 8am.

Maybe the number of rooms shown in the code don't match 100%

Highly unlikely. We both book the day that just opened up. Anyone modifying a reservation had to have this particular date as their starting date or at least have it as part of their reservation dates.

Another member could have that day for up to a week and let it go for another option. It only takes a nanosecond after all.

I do the same - and have had reasonable successes with the BWV Standard Views, but absolutely zero luck at getting the AKV Value or Club Level. But I still try every year!

No that wouldn’t be it. Anyone holding that date would need to keep it OR cancel the entire reservation. That date couldn’t be dropped since it was the first day in the 11 month window.

I can’t talk for anyone else than myself but since standard view are relatively easy to book (compared to value) I wouldn’t start walking a reservation for December until October.

If you are attempting to get BWV standard view studio or 2BR, summer, including July (other than time around July 4) and August is a time of year when actual demand is significantly less than during the fall season. Openings for BWV are more likely to occur during that time than for AKV value or club level as walkers pass by. For example, all the days for last three weeks of July and Aug 1 and 2, 2025 for BWV standard studios/2BRs are now open despite that each such day disappeared right at 8 a.m. at 11-months out.
