Has anyone stayed at BWV with a standard view? How "standard" is it?

Thanks.:goodvibes

Standard view has a view of either the main Boardwalk entrance or of the Valet parking.
It's been reported that upper levels of standard view (facing the BWV entrance) can see some of the upper EPCOT firewalks over the normal hotel building.
Last Nov, I stayed in ground level standard view, and realized it is the most convienent location (equidistant) to both the Bus (leave the building near valet) and Boat dropoffs (leave building near exercise room) and I never had to use an elevator or stairs to go either way.
There is enough green space between the resort and the entrance roadway that I never felt the view to be too busy or lacking privacy.

The picture below shows the Standard View rooms (in blue):

My DH & I are just back from a "standard" view on the 4th floor, 4119. It was wonderful! Besides being a dedicated 1BR, the stairs were just across the hall. It took no time at all to get to the ground floor & to the buses. It was a problem going back up the stairs.:goodvibes This was usually sloved by going up 2 flights & then walking to the elevator!

The view of the fireworks was wonderful. They appeared right over the conference center tall bldg. near the bus stop. The low fire works were not always visible, but we usually saw the top of the flames.

The room was in great shape, but my only gripe is that some of the top floor balconies do not have shade. It was very hot when we were there, & the balcony was not useable from about 9am til 2pm.

Hope

Hi: We've stayed in standard view rooms several times. I've never had a bad one. It's well worth the point savings. Enjoy!

I tried a standard view 1 bdrm. on our last night at WDW. After having 6 days with boardwalk view, it was really hard to be objective about the standard. I just wasn't sold on it. Boardwalk view it will be from now on. :thumbsup2

We love the standard view as we usually end up with a great view of the fireworks. This past trip we were on the 4th floor and had an excellent view of the fireworks from Epcot. We were about 1/2 way down the hall so not too bad.

We've also enjoyed the Boardwalk view but most of the time I'll think with standard.

90% of the time we go with Standard view at the BWV to save the points. BW view is nice, but we don't find it necessary. I've been in Standards that had views of the waterway to MGM with Swan & Dolphin and TOT across the way - gorgeous. The only down side to that is the long walk from the lobby or BW area to the room. Plus side is you're so much closer to MGM so the walk isn't bad at all, and it's quiet :)

Last month we had a view of the pool, just over the slide, we enjoyed this view as well. Not bad at all. We once had a view of the driveway, we were on the third floor, not over the valet area, but 1/2 up the drive. We loved this view too, it was peaceful and relaxing. Standards are the way to go in my HO because you'll save on the points, and if you request a standard close to the elevators, you'll get the pool view.

Oh, once we were over the green, I believe this was standard as well, and there was a side view of the BW. Again, this is our preference.

Good luck with your planning and have a great trip!

I would only NOT stay in standard view if it is not available. We have usually gotten the "fireworks" view rooms, but on our last trip, we were on the ground floor lookin gat the "lake/pond" toward the Studios end of BWV. It was great! Very easy to get out to the walkway for our strolls to the Studios park.

I LOVED my standard room, it was close to the lobby and QUIET. I really prefer them.:goodvibes

Another standard view lover. We've stayed standard every time and loved it. If it gets me to WDW longer, I'm for it!

We actually prefer the standard views, especially the views of the duck pond and canal. Lovely views and very quiet.

I love the standard view as well. I have yet to be in a bad room. I have been all the way down towards the tennis courts on the lobby level, and I have been near the lobby and main entrance. I could sit out side on the terrace and have my hot tea in the mornings. Very peaceful.

I stayed two nights in a studio that was a preferred view. I was right above the entrance to Muscles and Buscles. I loved being right there in the court yard area. I love being close to the elevator and lobby.

Well, all of these opinions are very interesting. I've never been to BWV but that will change in about 10 days when we take our first trip there. We've got 2 nights in a standard view and then 3 nights in a boardwalk view-all of them in a 1 br. I'm eager to compare the 2 views and see which one works best for us.

You will like the standard view room. We stayed on the second floor facing the drive. I didn't mind the view, but I also never use the balcony when I stay at WDW. I'm usually to busy getting ready to leave for the park or too tired when I get back.

I had the standard view about halfway down the hall fourth floor as well and had a nice view of the higher fireworks from Epcot. I've seen photos from the BW view and those look awesome. I tend to be a point miser so we are fine with the standard view.

The standard view at the Boardwalk is far superior to the standard garden wing views that we've had at the Contemporary or the Courtyard view that we had at the Wilderness Lodge. (Don't get me started on the view we had at WL.) It was as nice as the view we had at POR, but that is really comparing apples to oranges.

We had Room 3085 in January and it was perfect. We had a nice view of a very pretty grassy lawn and was close to the elevators. I think the rooms further down the hall probably had nicer views, but it was so, so, so nice to only walk a few feet after getting off the elevator. Perfect!

It sounds tempting. I have an AKV standard view studio booked in Jan., but we are also there in July. I am thinking that Jan might be a good time to try for a BWV standard view at the 7 month window. Any thoughts?

You will have more luck during the latter part of January.

You have New Years, Marathon, and MLK Holiday to contend with in early January. There may be a few days in between these things that is a little better.

We were able to get a standard studio from January 4th to January 7th at 5 months out, but that was Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.

As for the grounds, they are absolutely beautiful, even in January.

I can rarely get standard view at the 7 month window, but I always try! We overlooked the entrance circle once and DH loved watching people come and go. We were on the 3rd floor and could not see fireworks - but we were very close to the elevators (and anyone who has stayed at the outer ends of BWV knows this can be a great perk).
