For our past 3 trips we have stayed in a preferred view....this time we are saving some points and going for a standard view I bed at BWV. It must be non-smoking and we would really like not to look out over the entrance. Any distant view of fireworks or the park a bonus! Please could you tell me which room/floor/area to request.......has anyone had a bad view that I should avoid?
Thanks

Both times we have had a standard view at Boardwalk we had a view of the entrance. Having said that I will say I love the view. The landscaping in front of the building is wonderful, you get to see a lot of people watching, and we have always had a great view of the high fireworks from Epcot. We usually request an upper floor and not too far from the elevators. Haven't been disappointed yet.

I could be wrong, as I have yet to stay at BWV, but I was under the impression that the standard view rooms all looked out over the entrance.. Is this wrong? Are there other views with a standard view?

Most standards look over the entrace, but at the end of the hall (don't know the #'s) the view is the tennis courts, etc.

Be that as it may, I LOVE the entrance view. The preferred views are sometimes not that great, and the architecture of the building is wonderful - I spend more time on my balcony in a BW standard than any other room.

Our standard view is typically overlooking the pond and tennis courts...wonderful view...but we also enjoyed looking at the front entrance....We usually don't request...though we decided that this time we shall request tennis court / pond view and see what happens....

Whenever I get a standard view I always request to be as close to the tennis courts as possible. This has a view of the tennis courts obviously, but also of the waterway to MGM so you see the Friendship boats, the TOT, the fireworks from Fantasmic, lots of ducks, birds, etc. It is a wonderful view for just standard view pts but you will have approx a 4-5 min walk from the elevators to your room or if you take the stairway at that end of the building, it is a very quick way to get your villa but you will have to walk up steps, since there is no elevator at this end of the building.

thanks for your help so far. It sounds as though it can't go too wrong, although I liked your description of the rooms by the tennis courts! Sounds better than some preferred view rooms! For those of you who have been on a lower floor, or in a room that overlooked the entrance, did you get a lot of traffic noise? Just curious as we have a little person that will need to nap! Does anyone know which floor smoking is on?

Last summer I had a standard view (I always get a standard view to save points) and for the first time it was on the first floor. I did not hear ANY car traffic. The only thing to watch are the ducks. They come right up to the sliding glass door. I get the impression that people actively feed them because they show no fear of humans. It looks like they want to walk right into the room. As it turned out, my 2 and 6 year olds had fun running from the living room and to the bedroom and watching the ducks follow outside. My wife didn't love the first floor, but I liked putting the kids in the stroller, walking down the hall and being almost at MGM by using the walkway/path. Just as an aside. Even after all the trips I've made to BWV, the convience to EPCOT and MGM still blows me away.

H, We had the ground floor over looking the entrance also. It was nice, Enjoyed looking over the entrance and the dgs liked being able to sit and play on the patio. Have fun!!! Patsy

I believe 2nd floor is smoking floor.

When we visited in June, we requested a corner room (specifically room 3123 or 4123) since those rooms are extra large, dedicated 1 BRs with an extra large balcony off the main living area and a second balcony outside the master bedroom. Both rooms were occupied so the CM at the front desk asked if we wanted 2123 which was a smoking room. We took a chance and said yes because we really wanted to try a corner room, and we were very pleasantly surprised that the room did not smell at all like smoke, and we only had the faint smell of someone else smoking in an adjacent room maybe once or twice throughout our 9-night stay.

Needless to say I would stay in that room again in a heartbeat (although my first choice would still be the 3rd or 4th floor non-smoking rooms). Immediately below 2123 is the door which opens onto the path that leads right to the bus stop -- very convenient if you plan to visit the MK often (which we did). This room is also very close to the quiet pool and Community Hall which my son loves because of the free video games. You also get a great view of the Illuminations fireworks from the main balcony + a view of the Fantasmic! fireworks from the bedroom balcony.

Room 3123 - on our last trip we booked a Standard 1 BR and to our surprise we got this very large (larger than the usual 1BR) unit on the 3rd floor. The reason it was larger was because it was on the corner of the building.

Now it was quite a walk from the elevators. But you had such a fantastic view of the EPCOT Fireworks and you could even see the Fireworks from Fantastmic from the other end of the unit!

Now for the "view"....while it wasn't of the entrance, it was kinda overlooking the canal to MGM and a parking lot. To the far left was the bus stop. All in all I wouldn't mind that room again.

PeteW - just saw your post. Wasn't that a great room?? I already have requested 3123 again for my next trip.
