I was looking at buying at BWV and have seen several posts highlight the lower points needed to book a standard view room in BWV. Is there a difference in the room size or physical location that makes these less desireable - other than a "parking lot view" perhaps?
Any thoughts?

Standard view rooms are generally the same size as preferred or BW view, the view is usually of the parking lot or tennis courts

Standard view rooms are great. As previously mentioned, the rooms are exactly the same but the views can be less than memorable. In my experience, I've had very pleasant SV rooms and they are usually my view of choice.

Only potential issue with standard view other than that it is "standard" view is that they make up less than 20% of the resort, are very popular because of the lower point cost, and thus as an owner you should be prepared to make your ressies 11 months out to assure getting one because even owners can sometimes be blocked out if they delay too much beyond that 11 month window. Moreover, the views really are not bad because the parking lot is a distance away and there is a lot f grass and flower areas in front of the building. Moreover some even have view of Studios and channel leading to it.

We think that the standard rooms are just fine. They face the back of the hotel rather than the water. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in one.

I have not stayed in an SV yet, but one nice thing at that side of the property, Is you may be spared of the early morning boat horns.

I'll give a different point of view. Most of the standard views overlook the driveway which I consider to be the front of the building. I love my standard views as we like to watch all the comings and goings.

The closer you are to the elevators, the closer you are to where the trucks back up to pick up the ME luggage. So depending on what type of sleeper you are, you may or may not hear the beeping when they back up and the rattle of the luggage carriers. We were on the second floor right by this area and I never heard a thing but then I'm a heavy sleeper.

You can also say close to parking lot which means you will have a long hallway walk to the elevators but you will be right by the stairs and across from the bus stop.

I love the standard view. Still a great location and lower cost of points. Room sizes seems to be the same as far as I can tell.

We've only stayed SV and never been disappointed. The further from the elevators you are the more the road curves away from the resort and there's actually quite a bit of lawn between the two. Last visit we were the first 1 bedroom off the elevators, so it was a little noisier, but we didn't mind.

I agree with everyone, sv is awesome. We are barely in the room so our view doesn't matter. Great to save some extra points.

Our next trip will be standard view. We always request FAR from the elevators and high floor. If you are able to use the stairs, this gives you easy access to the bus stop and the path to the Studios. High floor usually gives you a view of the EPCOT fireworks. Standard view is great! But it's nice to have a choice. Last trip we had a Boardwalk view room. Unless you own at the BWV, it is hard (not always impossible) to get either.

Boardwalks standard views are fin, thats my home resort. However the standard views at the animal kingdom, well lets just say its better to pay the points. We we're looking at air conditioners and parking lot. Have a great trip

We have stayed in Standard view at both Kidani and Boardwalk. We would not hesitate to do it again! In fact, we are booked for a BW standard view for our next trip.

My family and I have rented DVC points for our FIRST ever stay @BWV!!!
We have reserved TWO standard studios for EIGHT nights in March! I have requested that our two studios be adjacent. Any tips, advice or suggestions that would make our stay more memorable would be appreciated!

We had a room just like this for Easter Break. We had a great view of the Epcot fireworks. I came home and compared the cost of 1wk in a 2BR BWV Standard with 1 wk in a 2BR BLT Magic Kingdom view during the premier season and the point difference is 192 points. That's almost enough points for our July HH 5 night trip. I love BWV Standard view.

This will be our third NYE stay in BWV standard view. What a point value those sv villas are! :thumbsup2

I usually book and get the SV at Boardwalk.
All the views I've ever had have been of lawn grass, the lawn to the side of the main entrance and the canal. Once I even had a pool view- I'm sure that was not part of my point saving value ressie.
The value villas are the best in my opinion. I don't need the noisy Boardwalk or the pool views.
