Okay, here's the plan. I turn 30 this December and have decided to treat myself with a short trip to WDW. It will be just me and a close GF. We'll be going for 4 nights and tearing through the parks like mad women. My big question is seeing as we want to have the Epcot area as our base what shot do we have on a non-holiday weekend in January of getting a standard view at BWV. Or do you pretty much have to own at BWV to ever get these rooms?

I'd say you have a very good chance, epecially if you book at the 7 month window. Good luck!

What weekend? If it's the same time as the Disney marathon, your chances are not very good. MLK weekend is also not a good bet. The other weekends may work, though.

In fact, you really never know until you call. And if you are willing to call day by day and use the waitlist for any day you can't get on the first call, your chances will be better.

Good luck!

No chance. That's marathon week. The Expo starts on Thursday with races on Fri, Sat and Sun.

I've never been in January before, are the parks pretty badly crowded due to the marathon. Also, if I'm not going to have a chance at the Epcot area I may want to pick another weekend.

I think there is a chance at Epcot area if you are not insisting on the Standard View. Preferred View won't be a slam dunk on that weekend, but it is certainly possible. Standard View at 7 months, in my opinion, is a lucky break if you ever get it at 7 months. There are just too many owners that want the lower point costs.

Good luck and have a great vacation.

Once again, I agree with mikesmom - there's a reasonable chance of getting a PV -Pool/Garden room for that time. I'd still recommend calling day by day, though.

I've visited during marathon time (stayed at the BWV) and the parks weren't very crowded at all. It can be a bit of a challenge to get around WDW the morning of the marathons, but if you are at an EPCOT resort, that isn't a problem. You can walk to EPCOT or MGM or grab one of the boats. We took a taxi to the Poly early on marathon morning (which I wouldn't do again, but didn't know any better at the time) and while the driver grumbled a bit, we arrived at our destination in a timely manner despite the "detours". :teeth:

Thank you everyone for the advice. We've decided to go the last weekend in January to avoid the marathon and holiday weekends.

we just called at the 7-month mark and booked at BWV for a week no-problem for the 1st week of October, which is the 1st weekend of the F&W Festival as well as during MNSSHP/Magical Beginnings and had our choice of studio/1-br:yay:
