We are staying at the BWV for the first time and are very excited! We have never entered Epcot via the International Gateway at the park opening. How does that work? Is there a rope drop? Can we possibly get to Soarin' in a timely manner?

TIA!!!!

Yes, there is rope drop (at least in the past we've had rope drop). They hold you until close to park opening time and then they may let you into the park but hold you up near Great Britain.

We did early hours and they held us up near Canada, but we got to Soarin quick enough to walk on a couple of times pretty quickly. I find it less crazy than the rush from the front gate.

The craziest rush is the fast walk/run to Toy Story Mania!

We stayed at BCV in June and went to Epcot through the International Gateway entrance. At least on that day, they did not open the turnstiles until right at open time. We still made it to Soarin' to wait in the standby line, but the opening skit and rope had been dropped and cleared out by the time we made it. They didn't let us in to wait as the others had posted.

Thanks OP for a great question, I was wondering the same thing. We have never stayed at an EPCOT resort before.

Not true. You wait at the International Gateway entrance and then at 5 minutes before the opening or right at the time Epcot opens they let you in and you walk to Future World.

Wow. There seems to be a few different ways of it being handled, huh?
So the problem becomes how to get to Soarin' fast!?

Not a bad problem to have! :)

Depends..We have had it where they let us in early to the fountain in Future world and then held us till park opening and let us adn the front go at the same time.We have also had it where they wouldn't let us thru the turnstyles till the park opening time. There is NO more rope drop show.the only park that still has one is MK

In Feb, the week before Pres Day, on a 9am open (no EMH) morning: We were let in through the IG turnstiles at or shortly before 9 am. I walked to Soarin' at a comfortable pace and went straight to the stand-by line; posted wait was 20 minutes, but it didn't feel that long. Someone can clarify, but I think they ended the internal "rope drop" at Epcot (where they let you through the turnstiles but held you at a rope farther into the park) last year, around the same time they ended it at DHS.

Wow! I didn't know they ended the internal rope drop. I always liked it as it built excitement for the kids.

They ended it afaik. At least that is what the themepark boards were saying awhile ago

You shouldn't say something isn't true when it apparently is. More than a few of us have already stated what happened when we went.

Maybe it didn't happen when you went, but it DID happen when I went.

Read the other posts on this thread who advise that they no longer have the rope drop at Epcot. I guess they aren't telling the truth either. From the International Gateway they let you in and you walk directly into Epcot. You are not held up at any point, guaranteed.

We also stayed at BWV this past June. They did not let us pass the turnstiles until opening time on the dot. Went straight to stand by line for Soarin and waited about 15 mins to ride. Then we got a fast pass for later in the day.. my son's favorite attraction.:)

YOU could have said they have changed the policy. You said the person posting was not telling the truth. Big difference.
