Hey all!
We are leaving for VB and BWV in 20 days! We asked for a preferred view at BWV, My mother will be coming with us. She has MS and has a hard time walking long distances. She does pretty well in the parks, but I see on the map at BWV that it looks like the rooms are a long way away from the bus stop and the parking lot. Is there a certain request that we could make that would make it easier for her? Thanks for your help.

Yes, ask for close to the elevators. The hallways at the BWV are very long. Make sure to use the valet parking too.

When is the best time to request this? Should I call ahead of time or do it when we check in?

call MS now and ask for a wheelchair for her.

If they have one (and they generally do) - ask about it when you check it.

WDW is just too big for someone with walking problems to be happy without a wheelchair.

this is the type you push.

if you get one at the resort it is free.

There are also those electric scooter companies that will deliver one to your resort at the beginning of your trip and return to pick it up at the end. It is expensive (I have seen $30 a day posted...but I am not sure) and to me, not as convenient since you would have to take buses everywhere you went if you were taking it to the parks as well. On the upside, it would be there when you got there and it would be yours for the duration and you would not have to worry about getting a wheelchair at the parks each time you went in and out.

She used a wheelchair when we went to Disney about 6 years ago. WHen she went with my brother a year ago she did not. So I don't think we will need one. We never had a problem getting one before. But I like the idea of getting at the resort, much easier.

If you want more information about wheelchairs or ecvs, follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES Board and check out the disABILITIES FAQs near the top of the board.

Definitely ask for a room close to the lobby and elevator! Otherwise, it's a long walk.
