I've found two different maps showing room types at Boardwalk Villas, and they don't completely agree. Van anyone tell me which one is accurate? The difference is on the very far end. Is this actually a "garden" view, or is it all standard?

We had a garden/water view and our room was above the main pool facing the Swan and Dolphin. There is a difference in the views.

It depends on the front desk. Some people have reported getting those rooms as pool/garden saying that you have a view of the canal to the right. Others have got them as standard. :confused3

We were in that very last room (facing the parking lot side, not the pool) and we could not see the canal. The hallway is at the end where you go out and can see the canal.
We booked standard view.

Same here. We booked standard view 2bd early May and were in the last rooms shown in red on the first map. The stairs lead right out to the walkway next to the canal. It was also close to the self park.

ETA: You look out at the pond and main road towards the BWV drop off. So if that's a garden view, then technically many of the other standard views should be garden view as well.

Right - I meant to say stairs at the end, not hallway. We liked the quietness, it was great for access to the parking lot, not bad for catching a bus either - but the walk to the boardwalk was a haul!

I wonder if it varies by floor. The first floor does have a view of trees and some shrubs. But I think they're stretching it a little with the room I'm in.

So you are in one of these rooms? Talk to the front desk. I remember someone else posted that they got one of these rooms and were told it was pool/garden. I suspect they are "borderline" and are used based on where they need to fill rooms. A DIS Board member created these pictures, they are not official. I think the second one is the original he created, the first one is a change he made after someone posted about these "borderline" rooms.

You can take pictures and contact member satisfaction. You could ask for the points difference with standard view and see what they say.

For what it's worth, I put these two BWV resort layouts together a few years ago. The top one is the older one, the bottom one is more recent but still at least 3 years old.

At that time, people were reporting that the rooms along the bottom were all Standard View but as others have indicated, that doesn't mean that they are always treated that way.

Sometimes Disney will "swap out" some room classifications. But they always have to even them out to avoid a point reallocation. My understanding is that there are some rooms in the Preferred View - Water/Garden in the main pool area that have been classified as Standard View because the view is primarily of the infrastructure of the slide at the pool. If so, then I could see them classifying some of those rooms at the end as PV just to keep the total point structure intact.

I think the map is still valid as a general guideline but there are always those outliers that Disney keeps to themselves until reported in places such as this. :)

My family and I will be staying in a Standard Studio next march. After some research...:surfweb: I requested "close to bus stop" & "close to elevator." This will be our first stay at BWV and we are looking forward to it! :cool1:

Those two requests are actually opposites. Close to the elevator is nearest to the lobby. Close to the bus stop is at the corner of the Standard View rooms...all the way down by the pond closest to the bridge.

You're almost guaranteed to get one of your requests! :)

When I book standard view, I request across from the bus stop, top floor. This gives you a fireworks view unless there is a tree in the way. Close to the elevator may give you a noisy view above the luggage area outside the lobby. If you can take steps, the quickest way to the bus stop is the exit by the corner at the end.

So would asking for a quiet 4th floor room give us a similar location? I don't care how far we are from the lobby really.

"Quiet" could give you all the way at the end of the hall, as the original poster described. I try to avoid words that are subject to interpretation.
