BWV room inventory questions

I'm wondering if anyone has some information to share for curiosity sake...

My mom and sister just checked into BWV today and have a handicapped accessible room. It's not a huge issue, but there are some differences in the room that are a inconvenient for them (the biggest being a lack of tub...my mother does not take showers and has to soak her legs in a warm bath nightly after walking all day). The interesting thing is that this is the third time out of the last four trips that they've been assigned to an HA room.

We're curious - does anyone have stats on:

1) how many rooms (preferrably studios) at BWV are boardwalk view?
2) how many studios are handicapped accesible?
3) how many handicapped accesible studios with boardwalk view are there?

I tried to find the info online but haven't been able to find any stats besides the fact that there are 29 HA villas and roughly 20% of room inventory is a boardwalk view.

Thanks in advance!

Off the top of my head, only can answer #3. Room 2047 is the only handicap accessible studio boardwalk view, it connects to 2049 (one bedroom boardwalk view handicap accessible).

Really....that's interesting, because we almost always do a boardwalk view, and we've had repeat rooms several times that I can remember...apparently we keep getting the same HA room too! I think in the many trips we've made to BWV, we must've stayed in the same four rooms more than half the time! :rotfl:

Thanks for the info!

^^^^ it almost seems like for some reason they "think" you want the HA room:confused3.......we've had many stays at BWV and never had the same room twice

It's interesting that the only CMs that have ever asked if we liked our previous location were at BWV. We tend to get standard view, and we usually are near the elevators, not down the hall too much and usually the 2nd or 3rd floor. We're fine, and they are usually dedicated studios. Maybe they think your family LIKES that room.

Other than our very first visit, in '04, I've never made a request. That time we had a family GG and the request was that the villas be near each other. We had 5 of them, and they were. Yes, they were near the elevators, mostly dedicated studios on the 2nd floor...where we usually, but not 100% of the time, are!

IMO Disney should save the HA rooms for someone who needs it. If no one is using it, keep in in reserve as a back up for maintenance.

They could release it to CRO for a cash Guest, but Disney would never do that to a CASH Guest.

Did your Mom and Sister go down to the desk and see if the could get a different room?

We always go check our room out before we bring anything in to make sure it is clean and acceptable.

You may want to put on furture request. Tub needed for medical reasons. I need a tub to soak into also for a bad hip.

FYI - We were told in December at Kidani that a room change would cost $75 if we entered the room first.

Not a problem at BWV! At least it wasn't for the guest that had checked out my room before I was assigned to it and left items behind. :sad2:

Well, I guess I couldn't say for certain if they were charged or not but housekeeping obviously had not been back to re-check the room.

That's also what we were told at VWL when we returned to change from a HA room after 5 minutes. The only way I've found is to learn the #s of the HA rooms at the resort before you go (find room reviews to find out). Since I knew -28 was a HA studio at BCV, when I got that room assignment, I asked for a change and never left the front desk(I also needed a room with a tub). BTW, they were very nice about assigning me a different room, perhaps partially because they knew for sure that the room was "unchanged".

Same here. The only time I've ever been in an HA room in around 30 WDW stays was when we asked to switch to a savannah view concierge villa at AKV. They could move us, but it was to an HA room.

I kind of keep in the back of my mind that the HA rooms at BWV are around x047 so I know before I leave the desk that I don't have one.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

They actually knew at check in that it was a HA room, and my sister said she said something about the room, but, according to my mother, the CM just continued with check in. I'm still at home and didn't talk to them until they were in the room. My guess is that she didn't actually say she WANTED a room change - probably just made a comment. I know what a pain it is to change rooms, so they didn't even bother talking to the front desk. We're just trying to figure out how to avoid it for the future...requesting the tub makes a lot of sense, and that's probably what we'll do in the future. Glad to hear we're not the only ones who need it!

As for getting the same rooms multiple times...we've had room 5015 at least three times, and 5017 once. We've had 5055 twice. The first floor boardwalk view studio? Twice. And this is our second time in the HA room with the boardwalk view. I guess if we keep going, the odds of getting the same room are bound to only increase!

For some reason we've had 2007/2009, 4007/4009, and 5007/5009, I wonder when we'll get 1007/1009 and 3007/3009. I'm convinced it will happen some day! But we're almost always down in that area. I booked standard view for the next trip, and would certainly take one of my 07/09 rooms if they insist!
