5/13-21. 1 bedroom
we had an awful time at checkin with a newly trained CM. :guilty:
after making us wait for over 20 minutes to find a room-she let us know
our 8 night stay was a problem because they didnt have any rooms for that
length of time. she found a room & didnt show us on the map where it was.
she also didnt give us any of our package details. she tried to send us to
concierge. fortunatly another cm over heard our request & gave us the portfolio w the park & dining plan info. the checkin process took over 45 minutes at 7:30 PM with a tired & cranky 4 year old.
needless to say-it didnt meet any our our requests. it was a nice
room, over the quiet pool far from the elevators. we requested a boardwalk view, upper floor or near the elevator. any of those would have been fine.
I know requests arent guarenteed but my 8 night stay shouldnt be presented to me as a problem...
after letting it bother me for a couple of days, i dropped a note to the front desk manager to advise of the problem. they called that evening & let me know the cm was just out of training. she apologized & offered us passes at the park(like fast passes). i asked if we could get a boardwalk view & she found one, we moved there the next day.
so-room 3051 over the green was perfect. large balcony, view of wishes & illuminations. dryer door didnt close but that was fixed right away.
as we left i tried to redeem my AAA $25.00 disney dollars at the shop in the lobby. i had a paper voucher from check in. the cashier didnt have any idea
how to redeem the voucher, called her manager, who called the front desk.
the front desk manager came in to see what i had. it turns out that the voucher was to be kept on my file & the cm was to give me $25.00 disney dollars at check in. he wanted to know her name, which i thankfully forgot.
so-even leaving the place-she wasted our time. :sad2:

Sorry to hear about your problems. Boardwalk views at BWV are only supposed to be available with DVC points reservations. I stayed in 5051 last December with a boardwalk view guaranteed DVC reservation (2 floors up from yours). It was kind of "borderline". The Village Green views are supposed to be in the preferred garden category for DVC members. It was nice that it was close to the elevator though and we ended up liking it.

Wow, if they told me they didn't have the amount of nights available that I had already booked I would have FLIPPED. I mean - FLIPPED, FLIPPED, FLIPPED. I can't believe you waited a couple of days to complain. I'm so glad you finally did cause that wasn't right. It is one thing to not have requests met, but not to have all your nights?!?

Were they going to make you leave early? I had assumed they worked that out when they gave you the original room.

How did you book? It hs been my understanding that Boardwalk views are points reservations only, and for DVC members, they are guaranteed at the time of booking.

Since your post references dining plan - I would say this was booked on cash, not points? In which case, reference other comments that the BoardWalk view is actually not available to cash ressies, only points ressies.

Since they book "room ready" she must have just had a problem reading the system for her to say that 8 days out there weren't any rooms available. They don't prebook the rooms until 2-3 days out and I would have a tough time believing that everyone there was staying 8 or more days.

I think that the new ones need to be given a break - everyone has to learn sometime. Not that errors shouldn't be pointed out, but just because things could be complicated to a newbie.

Glad you had a good stay.

I stayed in 3051 in April and really liked it. The question I had though, was that I had a guarranteed BWV and I didn't realize the Village Green was that view? I didn't question it because they said they were full? But for next time is that a BW View?

I'm guessing 2051, 3051, 4051, and 5051 are in the Boardwalk View category. They are all one-bedrooms, and do have pretty good views. All the village green studios, though, I think are the preferred-garden/water view.

I think it falls in a "borderline" category. Like the rooms that face the valet parking lot but also have a view of the canal and MGM that some people got as preferred, they tried to fight it but lost (tried to get points back thinking it was really standard). Another member posted that they got a 1st floor room facing the lawn and driveway as preferred garden, probably should have been standard. They also tried to fight it and lost. I was in 5051 last year and was surprised because I thought all BW view rooms were directly above the BW. I didn't say anything because I liked that it was close to the elevator plus it was far away from the new room construction down by Jellyrolls (which I was really worried about). The resort doesn't publish which room numbers are which category, so they can pretty much classify them as they want.

We are set for a Boardwalk View, 2 bedroom from July 10 to July 18. I booked it early last fall, then we took an unexpected trip Nov-Dec. I was concerned that the Village Green would be considered Boardwalk View. Since I was already booked I asked at least two CMs who "appeared" very knowledgeable and friendly who both, separately told me that Bowardwalk view means Boardwalk view, the Green is Preferred. Still not being the most trusting of individuals (read "lawyer" here) I have called back two more times and gotten the same response. Our only other request is that it not be an ADA room. I actually kind of like the walk home. So all of my cross examination aside, I'll post when we get back and let everyone know what happens. This will be our fourth trip to BWV and we've had a great time every trip, BUT I REALLY want to try out a week on the Boardwalk. Cross your fingers for us! Sorry about your issues Vikame, hope the rest of the trip made up for the troubles!

I always ask for standard view and sometimes we get upgraded without even asking :earsboy:

I think you're safe. At least on the 5th floor, the first 4 or 5 rooms facing the village green were studios, then our room which was a dedicated 1 bedroom, then the corner. So there couldn't be a 2 bedroom in the group.

I am pretty sure the rooms that face the greens are just preferred view. We have stayed in the one directly above Weilands Gallery and it was "preferred" not "boardwalk" view. (which is what we booked)

I learned a lot from reading this thread. I was just there for my first trip home and tried to 'check out' all the views from each category and each 'wing' and 'section'. The Village Green had me flummoxed....not REALLY a boardwalk view, but kinda. Someone loved either a studio or 1 bd they had there cause of a huge balcony. I thought the upper floors might actually have pretty good views out to water. I have friends who are using my points for a 2 bdr. early December...PV. Any suggestions on where they should request? I personally didn't like the Luna Pool 'green' and thought the quiet pool or the 'croquet lawn' a better choice. I wonder if I'd like the 'village green' for my PV studio in October. What do you think?
