We're heading down to the BWV for the first time. Any reviews?? Is the slide at the pool as good as it looks in the pictures? How far is it to walk to MGM or Epcot? Can you walk to MGM or Epcot?

Any info from my fellow DVCers would be great!

I went recently and had a one bedroom - my friend said it was the best place we have stayed yet (and we have stayed at some really nice places) - the bathroom w/jacuzzi tub is wonderful and big (jacuzzis in the one and two bedrooms only). Didn't use the pool. Walk to Epcot is short - you can walk to MGM but it is a much longer walk - easier to take the boat.

We love BWV! We have stayed there twice (we're going back in May) and it is definitely our favorite resort. My DS loved the slide at the pool (however, he was 4 at the time and it kind of scared him). We usually walk to both EPCOT and MGM. The walk to EPCOT is much shorter. I think it takes us about 5-10 minutes depending on how fast we are walking. I think the walk to MGM takes us about 15 minutes. We take the boat sometimes to MGM depending on how tired we are. The location of BWV can't be beat. We love just going down to the Boardwalk at night and walking around. The atmosphere is fabulous. We have 2 boys (now 5 and 1), and the resort just works great for us. The rooms are great too. I love having a kitchen and the room of a villa.

You might try posting this on the DVC board as there are a lot of BWV vets there.

BWV is absolutely wonderful! At night it's all lit up. Entertainers each night we were there (Sept). Lots of dining choices. AAAHHH!!!! I can't wait to go back!!! Definitely our favorite resort. The pool and slide looked great too, but it was closed for renovation so we got to use Stormalong Bay. We stayed in a 1-bd. villa, which was great. DH and I got our own private bedroom while 2 DS (ages 7 & 9) shared the sleeper sofa in the living area. The kitchen and washer and dryer were very helpful too.

I'm sure you will love staying there. We are hopefully going back in Sept. 03. Sue

hi: that's our "home" resort! the location is the key- you are so close to mgm and epcot. the walking does help to burn all the extra calories we take in there. the rooms are so much better for us than regular hotel rooms. we've only stayed in the 1 and 2 br units, but have had studios for family members who have come along. they loved the studios as well. one of these times we'll have to pop for a gv. the pool is nice and the slide can be fun (haven't done the slide since 2000 though). we generally spend more time in the hot tubs and the quiet pool. any other questions-just ask.

Our room overlooked the pool a few weeks ago, and the slide must be great, b/c kids kept riding it over and over and over......
It did look pretty fun.
From BWV to Epcot, the walk is 5-7 minutes depending on where you consider your start from (some people say they start their walk when they go out the resort door, some people think it is when they go by the ESPN Club, etc...)
From BWV to MGM, from when we exited the elevators down at the pool level, was 14 minutes. It is a nice walk, but long. If you walk, you don't have to worry about any wait time for the boat.

Have a great trip.

Thanks to everyone!

Now that I think about it, I probably shouldn't of asked my original question...

Reading all the great responses has made me want to leave for Disney TODAY!

BWV is our home resort also (we bought it resale last year). We've stayed there once already, and I LOVE it! The slide IS really fun...it's a pretty long slide for a pool slide, too. I really like the pool there. We stayed in a studio overlooking the "Luna Park" pool. It was a great location in my opinion! The walk to Epcot was quite short (5 minutes maybe), and the walk to MGM didn't take much longer. I can't wait to stay at BWV again this October :)

BWV is a great resort. We plan to stay there again next year. I think most everybody has expressed a lot of the positives. One thing that sets it a part for me is the atmosphere at night where everything is lite up and entertainers are great.

The pool was great with our 9yo and he loved the slide(it was also pretty fun for the adults too!).

The location is great with the walk to Epcot and MGM are relaxing. We only ride the boat if we are tired or if it is raining. The boat has several stops.

The bus system can be hit or miss. Unless something has changed the bus go from Dolphin/Swan, Beach CLub, then Boardwalk.

Overall this is a great resort.

Didn't stay BWV but BWI and just wanted to say both my kids loved the Luna pool (ages 9 and 6). The slide is very fun, the theme cute and the life guards were very friendly. DH and I liked the fact we could park in a chair (and rest) and still see the slide and the whole pool. The poolside bar is great too. We did take the kids over to SAB to look around and they thought it was neat but when I asked which resort next trip... both said BWI. They loved the night time entertainment, the performers are really fun and include the crowd. I hope you will have a good time.

BTW, I think the busing is different depending on crowds. During part of our stay we did the BWI/YC/BC/D/S route and it was a pain some times. But the last two days (during Mardi Gras=higher crowds) it changed to BWI/D/S only.

:D
