BWV Refurb Progress

I think this picture from Poison Ivy's post shows why the murphy bed would not fit in the 1 bedroom living room.

Watching with interest as an owner here since just after it opened. I agree the theming is being lost but understand many of the improvements. Better tops of the side table and coffee table - these wore fast from people putting down cold drinks and from spills. I love the wall mount TVs. Opens up a little more space for my "stuff" (old guy George Carlin reference.)

The dining table also now has a laminate faux-wood top, much more practical than the old painted finish.

Wow, the studio seems more spacious and very cool to have the steamer in the 1 bedrooms.
Looks like I stand corrected on that steamer. They are in the studios as well. Found it tucked back in the closet behind the vacuums. So all units should be getting them.

Poison Ivy....thanks for those great photos. Magnifying mirror.....love it. Love the new shower too. The furniture looks "electic"....is that the right word? Exactly like the beach homes I've been in: cast offs that don't match. But it all somehow looks great. Glad to see the carpet gone in the living room.
I agree. Love that mirror! Really missed it when we resort hopped over to Jambo for a couple of days.

We all really loved the new look and comfort of the place and felt the mouldings and shuttered cabinetry did give a vintage seaside feel.

Here's a few of the stand alone studio # 4057.

There is an added chair in place of the connecting doors in the lock-off units.

Agree. There really is no room for a murphy bed with this layout. A sleeper chair - maybe but it would be pretty tight with the sofa opened out.

We checked out of 3075 - standard 1 bedroom - on Wednesday. It was close to the elevators and overlooked the front entrance and airline check-in. It had not been refurbed. Although there was someone painting on our balcony one morning, we had no issue whatever with noise.

We checked in a few moments ago. 3rd floor, end of the hall standard view studio and its not refurbished. Didn't see anything happening in any rooms in this section as we meandered to our room.

Thanks for the update! I check into a standard studio on Wednesday. I'll be sure to report back.

We were right under your room. We checked out on Nov. 7th. Why it took 2 weeks to paint the same balconies confuses me. They were painting my balcony when we checked in on Oct. 23rd. We had to get housekeeping up to clean the paint chips and debris from our balcony several times. A week later I went out on the balcony and put my hand on the rail and got paint all over it. Of course no sign to indicate that they returned a week after painting to repaint again. We were there 16 days and had to deal with no access to our balcony on Monday to Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM. We like using the balcony so it was inconvenient. Yes we knew of the refurb going on in the rooms, but not the painting on the other side. I did notice it is NOW listed on the DVC sight. I had to remind my 10 year old granddaughter to keep the curtains closed when changing into her swimsuit in the afternoons. It was not the most pleasant trip and we tried to suck it up. But after 2 weeks and dealing with all of the construction going on, we were happy to go home. On a positive note, we never really had any problems parking. We did try the new MK dedicated bus service. The first week it went well, but on week two is was horrible. We waited one day for 45 minutes and the other two days not as long, but longer than 20 minutes. We had to stand everytime.

JUST checked in to a 4th floor standard view 1 bedroom. The CM checking us in said our room was not refurbished yet. I was pleasantly surprised to see the new decor when I opened the door. The room overlooks the front entrance.

Thank you for the update. It looks like the 4th and 5th floor standard views are the only standards completed. Is the construction still going on? Are they still painting the outside? Appreciate the info!

They just started painting the standard wing facing the driveway. We checked in on Oct. 23rd and they were outside our balcony. We left 2 weeks later on November 7th and they were only one room further. There is actually a blip on the DVC website now telling you that you have no access to your balcony during the painting. We really missed not using it for the 2 weeks we were there. We could only go out there on Saturday and Sunday and after 5:00PM the other days. Also you should remember to keep your curtains closed as there are often painters right on your balcony. Heck one painter had his lunch cooler sitting on the balcony, glad someone got to use it.

Sorry for your experience! We would definitely miss it too. Can't believe how long all of this is taking. Thank you for the update.

Considering a one bedroom unit checking in Nov. 30. Plan on spending a lot of time in the room. What areas should I avoid (or what areas are not affected by the parking and refurbishment issues)?

Considering? Doesn't look like anything is available through either DVC or CRO. If it's an existing reservation, I would just request an upper floor.

I have to admit when I first saw pictures of the renovated rooms, both the wife and I didn't like them. But we stayed in a newly completed studio last week, and the rooms are so much nicer in person. I really liked the room a lot. We stayed in a standard view on the 4th floor, and looked like most of that floor was complete. There was one a small hallway sectioned off that they were working on. I am not sure about the other floors, but if you are looking to get a renovated room, requesting a room on the 4th floor would be your best bet. On my online check-in I requested an "upper floor", then on touring plans I used their room request feature and was able to request room and floor. They faxed over my request 5 days before my arrival, and it worked perfect.
