newbies to the DVC, never stayed at a DVC resort. would like to stay at BWV or BCV. what are the advantages of either one over the other. i saw the pool area at BCV (and BWV as well) last week and i must say it is rather impressive. i can imagine that draws people during the warmer seasons. is that why it is the hottest spot (or what looks to be the hottest spot from what i'm reading on this site) or are there other advantages as well during colder months? thanks in advance

They are both fabulous resorts. My kids (19, 21 and 23) like BCV better. Besides the pool, they like Beaches n Cream, the lobby area, the marketplace. I like BWV better. I like the atmosphere, the lobby, the pool bar. It's a very hard choice to make!!

YES !!!!!!!

You will enjoy either one...plan on trying them both as you enjoy your DVC..!!:thumbsup2

In my opinion, they are too close to compare one to the other. They are basically in the same location and both are beautiful hotels. The pool at BCV is probably superior to BWV, but BWV offers a standard view which allows us to save lots of points on our vacations.

The pool at BCV is impressive, but its really hard to watch kids there. For that reason, I like BW a little better at this age.

The BCVs are also a little smaller, so with the same demand, its a little harder to get a room there. Its also a newer resort, with some improvements made to the room - a sheltered toilet and a more integrated dining area.

BW has the Standard View and Boardwalk View rooms.

Why don't you split your vacation between the two? For example, three nights at BVC then move for four nights at BWV's. This will give you a taste of both.

My family stayed at the BWVs in December and loved it!!! The boardwalk is awesome and has lots of nightly activities. The lobby, pool and gameroom are very cool as well. If you can get a standard view room you will save a bunch of points. We walked and rode our rented bikes over to the BCVs a few times. Their pool is incredible, it actually has sand at the bottom of it and a full size lazy river. It's basically a mini waterpark. If plan on spending alot of time at the pool go with BCVs. Otherwise, I would save the points and go with BWVs then take the 3 minute walk to BCVs when you have a taste for Beaches and Cream.

I own at BWV and have stayed there many times. I just came back from Orlando last night, I was there for business and added a night at BCV on Thursday (BWV was not available). I really liked it! I liked that it was smaller, easier to get around. I liked the market. The room I had was in excellent shape. I had asked for top floor and got it, facing the woods (531 studio). It was very quiet, I didn't hear anyone around me (there was a housekeeping room one one side). I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I own at both. I love them both for many of the same reasons listed here. BCV are literally about a few hundred yards from the rear entrance(International Gateway) of Epcot. From BCV It takes about 12-15 minutes to walk to MGM (brisk walk mind you). On the flip side, BWV is less than a ten minute walk to MGM--not quite as close as BCV are to Epcot. BWV to Epcot is about a ten minute walk. I enjoy the boat rides, and will take them, unless it's near park closing or opening and very crowded. It's just nice to know you can walk to either quickly.

The BCV is very quiet and relaxing. The BWV is still relaxing but there is a lot more going on around you. I like the quietness of BCV, all the action at the Boardwalk is a short walk away if I get bored. If the pool is important, choose BCV, it has the best pool at disney.

I agree with a previous poster. Split your stay between the two. Half the fun of DVC is experiencing the different resorts! If you are staying for at least a week, I would split the stay.

Although I agree that which one is better is so subjective, but one thing to note about BCV is that you can walk thru entirely covered area to get food-the walk to the BC Marketplace is covered-and there's a Character breakfast right at the resort. Also, I find there are more nice, restful places to read. OK, I admit it, I "subjectively" think BCV is better.

Like GrimGhost we own at both and enjoy them very much. The ambience is different but the nice thing is that they are both in the same area. The BCV to us is a little quieter but the pool is superior. There is more to do on the BW but it is a little more active. To be honest, we prefer the BWV for location but the rooms at both are exactly the same, just different furnishings and different views.

I like them both very much, but Stormalong Bay tips it to the BCV for me.

we were worried that it might would be too busy staying at bwv or bcv. we walked around the boardwalk last week and checked out a little of the grounds of both resorts. we really enjoyed our two evenings we spent there but were a little worried that if staying there the business might seem to follow us to the room. from what most of you are saying it sounds like you can get a little more quiet time if you stay at bcv and then the enjoyment of the boardwalk is a few minutes' walk. thanks y'all. that's what we were looking to find out.

I don't think you can go wrong either way, but if you want opinions, we prefer the BCV. We have stayed at both and prefer BCV. Don't get me wrong BWV is really nice but we had a Boardwalk view and as beautiful as the view was, it kept the kids and I up in the evening with all the boardwalk games. I could never fall asleep at night until they closed the games for the evening. At BCV you are still within a 5 min walk to Boardwalk but get the peacefulness of the beach. And then as Simbas Mom said as well we had a few days of rain and while you are at the BCV you can walk completely dry to a few different resturants, you can't do that at BWV.

how late does bwv stay busy in the evenings? about what time do the games, etc stop? we do like to go to bed pretty early sometimes.

I actually went down and asked the guys down there since they were really keeping me up and they told me it depends on crowds, sometimes it was midnight sometimes it was 1:00 AM. I really wanted to break that bell on the water racing game. And if one more person lobbed a lobster in the bucket I was going to cook it!
