BWV-Keister Coaster Refurbishment for October

DH and I don't swim, but the friends who are going with us do.
I am really excited that they will have the opportunity to try out the best pool onsite! :D

We're making our first trip to BWV on Oct. 19 and I haven't received a letter. Though, with really little kids, SAB will probably work out better.

I am not happy to hear this at such short notice. The reason I booked my trip to BWV was to expericence the Luna pool and its slide. Now I have received no word from DVC on this and I am going to be there in less than 2 weeks. If I had more notice I would have stayed at VWL as I had planned well over 9 months ago.

Why does it seem that there are more negative aspects of the DVC program day by day?

Oh well.

**"Why does it seem that there are more negative aspects of the DVC program day by day?"**

I don't know that I'd classify refurbing one of our slide a DVC negative, especially when they are letting guests use SAB. I don't know if the refurb was caused by some sudden defect or just its normal cycle, but if this was the normal cycle then I think they could have let people know a little sooner.

Having just visited BWV's in late August, I can honestly say the slide needs this refurbishment. It is very faded and looked "tired."

We have also stayed at BWV's during the Sept '01 refurbishment when the entire pool was shut down. They did provide a boat that was strictly for SAB pool hopping. It was quick and we never waited. We went back and forth several times for snacks and such without any inconveniences.

Take advantage of the best of two worlds and enjoy!

Given the way DVC reservations work, they'd have had to have given us a LOT of notice for everyone to switch around ressies. I doubt they do the schedule 7 months in advance.

There is always something under refurbishment at Disney - one of the reasons we bought into DVC is because we know the parks and resorts will be kept up - thing seldom look "tired" for long. And because we like knowing that if this trip, BTMRR is closed, we will be able to go on it next trip. Same with the pool slide at BWVs.

With BCVs being so close - and such a nice facility - this isn't nearly as bad as if you were staying at VWL and their pool slide was closed - you could pool hop to Ft. Wilderness or the CR or Poly, I suppose, but neither would be as convienent.

Just received my letter today and am actually excited! DD (3yo) is too young to do Keister Coaster and we've never tried SAB yet so I know we are going to take advantage and pool hop! Actually we were just looking at pictures of SAB b/c we are considering a short stay there after our Feb. BWV reservation. We didn't realize how cool SAB was until we saw the photos courtesy of Tagral. Thanks Tagral! We were all impressed with the zero-entry sand area and DD loved the look of the little slide in the Albatross pool. I'm sure we'll still swim at BWV some, but I also know we will be taking advantage of visiting SAB!

I think I remember seeing a sign at SAB that said capacity was 1200 or 1500 people!

Can anyone confirm this? We were there Labor Day weekend which was close to a sell out, and SAB was not crowded at all.
People have their

We always found lounge chairs no matter what time we arrived.
When we did hop to BWV (the sunday SAB was closed), their capacity was less than 300 and was considerably more crowded.

As for the refurbishment, BTMRR was closed that weekend also and at first I was disappointed that we would not get to ride it that week, but then they had that fatal DL BTMRR accident (the same weekend) and I was glad that WDW was taking the time to provide maintenance on the rides. Next June BTMRR will be reopened and we will ride it then, feeling a little more comfortable that it has been serviced.

I do understand the disappointment, but maintenance and upkeep is one of the reasons we chose the more expensive DVC over other timeshares in other areas. I want to have first class vacations for the next 38 years, not just next year.

I'm not sure how much notice they could have given that would have afforded a DVCer enough time to make alternate arrangements and find availability. I would think 3 months would have been adequate notice but where would you switch to at 3 months?

the slide is refurbished every couple of years because of its wooden construction. have been before when it was being given a face lift.

We received our letter today as well. We hit it just right...the Keister Coaster is open through Sunday, our arrival day. We'll make sure to hit the BWV pool on Sunday and then pool hop to SAB the other days we are there.

The best of both worlds!

GREAT!!!!!!!! we are at the bw 10/26 -31st. we own at both the bcv and bwv we always seem to stay at the bw because of the standard points. we are very excited to be able to use sab for the first time. we will get the best of both worlds. we will probably not spend as much time at the parks due to the availability to use sab. GREAT!!!!!!
