Good Morning,
Can someone please compare the 2 and give m e your preferences and why?
TIA

Highly prefer boardwalk view. Those rooms provide one of the best views, if not the best view, that exists at WDW, looking out over the lake, seeing Spaceship Earth in the distance, YC and BC across the lake, and you can watch fireworks at night from the room, including even being able to see in the distance the MK fireworks. P/G views are OK but nothing anywhere near as good as boardwalk view.

Those who avoid boardwalk view usually do so because of sensitivity to noise. You do get noise from the boardwalk in the evening, while other areas of the resort are quieter at night. Also boardwalk view studios (and thus also 2BRs since all are lock-offs) can disappear very quickly at times, particularly during the fall, right at 11-months out.

When originally opened, BWV had only two room categories -- preferred and standard. The preferred included what is now boardwalk and pool/garden views, and boardwalk view was merely a non-guaranteed request. Both are still considered "preferred" view with the same point requirements, but in the early 2000's the reservation system was modified to make boardwalk view a guaranteed request.

The noise in the early evening isn't too bad, the noise that bothers me is when Jellyrolls let out at the end of the night. You get some pretty LOUD folks who may have had a bit too much to drink and forget or don't care that there are guests staying in rooms near the area they are walking past. It can get pretty bad at times, other times you don't hear anything. This is just something to be aware of if you choose a BW view room. That being said, it looks like Jellyrolls hasn't been reopened yet so it may be a non-issue.

If you can tolerate the possibility of loud noise later into the night a BW view room can't be beat. The views are probably the best on property.

Thank you we are looking at a 1Br. Nice input as this will be our first "real " stay at BWV. In 2009 we did an overnight before a cruise on the Dream.

Thanks you for your insights.

Love, love, love boardwalk view. Making it a separate booking category is what stopped me from selling after my mom passed. Couldn’t give it up.

Oh yes, Boardwalk view is the best! Somehow the late night noise hasn’t been a problem, although we’ve heard it, but I hated my afternoon nap being ruined by outside activities when we had a view of the Luna Park pool! :rotfl2:

There is no comparison Boardwalk View is simply better. You are also less likely to get that view as well.

One is on the Boardwalk the other has a high chance of overlooking the pool.

I could sit out on the balcony all day with a BW view, just enjoying the sights and listening to the subtle, but lovely, standards that Disney plays. LOVE it!

I'm not a fan of pool views in general, so when I get a pool/garden view, I strongly request a garden and not a pool...my favorite of the garden view rooms are the ones all the way down by Swan/Dolphin - there's a tiny quiet private garden back there, and the rooms actually have a lovely view over the river and boats to DHS, with Swan and Dolphin behind...because of where the rooms are located, it's an easy walk to DHS, access to the boats to DHS or Epcot are easy by just swinging around onto the boardwalk by Jellyrolls rather than going through the building, and for busses, you can just walk across to the Swan stop right over the bridge, which is far closer than Boardwalk's own bus stop.
But overall, I'd take a Boardwalk view if I could get it...especially if I can score one of the covered, private mega-balconies on the 2nd or 4th floor.

We take Boardwalk View and book eleven months out. They are, however, only about 20% of the resort, and even one bedrooms will usually go quickly once the seven month window opens up. So if you want one, book when your window opens.

I can recall in years past when boardwalk view was not a booking category and folks would go to great lengths to get a boardwalk view. There were always a lot of threads on this board on how to optimize chances for getting a boardwalk view. It was going way beyond putting a request on the reservation: Faxing requests directly to the room assigners a couple of days out and making a compelling case for being assigned a boardwalk view room. Or, getting a room outside of WDW the night before and then checking in early at 6am and camping out in the lobby all day in order to get the coveted view. (Thankfully, they made boardwalk view a booking category before we purchased. )

The view is not a big deal to us, so we typically try to get a standard view room. If we can't get the STD view and have to pay the extra points anyway, we will pick the boardwalk view. No, STD view or boardwalk view? That is okay, too, I feel like a "winner" just staying at the Boardwalk :) .

We have only stayed in a boardwalk view a couple of times. It is nice, but as previously mentioned it can be a little noisy. I like also that it is predictable where your room will be located (same with std view). We like to take the stairs if we are too far from the elevators and sometimes it is a real surprise (to me, anyway) as to where we exit the building from the non boardwalk view/STD view rooms. :)

Everyone tooting Boardwalk view but in the south building villas, you can see Hollywood Studios and should be able to see fireworks on the third fourth and fifth floor facing south.

Plus water and lots of trees, some nice views.

You can find these on touring plans' site.

Love that view, what room is that?

we have owned BWV since 2002. We have stayed in boardwalk view many times and the only noise we really hear are the fireworks and we are fine with that.

This would be the rooms facing south towards Hollywood studio - in North building Rooms 5032 to 5046 or South building rooms 5089 to 5095 (or 4089 to 4095)

You don't have to be in a Boardwalk view villa to hear noise from JellyRolls patrons. A lot of them stay at the Boardwalk and some of them are still talking & laughing & singing loudly as they walk down the hallways to their room after JellyRolls closes.

We have found that MOST of the noise at the Boardwalk comes from guests in the hallways who don't realize how much can be heard in the rooms. I often say that the parents yelling at their excited children to be stop running or to be quiet is much more disturbing than the kids'. :teeth: :teeth:

We’re staying in a Garden/Pool view this coming March during our split stay. Are there any particular floors we should avoid or request? I know sometimes certain floors at other resorts have view-restricting railings, dormers etc.
