Thank you we are looking at a 1Br. Nice input as this will be our first "real " stay at BWV. In 2009 we did an overnight before a cruise on the Dream.Highly prefer boardwalk view. Those rooms provide one of the best views, if not the best view, that exists at WDW, looking out over the lake, seeing Spaceship Earth in the distance, YC and BC across the lake, and you can watch fireworks at night from the room, including even being able to see in the distance the MK fireworks. P/G views are OK but nothing anywhere near as good as boardwalk view.
Those who avoid boardwalk view usually do so because of sensitivity to noise. You do get noise from the boardwalk in the evening, while other areas of the resort are quieter at night. Also boardwalk view studios (and thus also 2BRs since all are lock-offs) can disappear very quickly at times, particularly during the fall, right at 11-months out.
When originally opened, BWV had only two room categories -- preferred and standard. The preferred included what is now boardwalk and pool/garden views, and boardwalk view was merely a non-guaranteed request. Both are still considered "preferred" view with the same point requirements, but in the early 2000's the reservation system was modified to make boardwalk view a guaranteed request.
Thanks you for your insights.drusba said "Those who avoid boardwalk view usually do so because of sensitivity to noise. You do get noise from the boardwalk in the evening, while other areas of the resort are quieter at night."
The noise in the early evening isn't too bad, the noise that bothers me is when Jellyrolls let out at the end of the night. You get some pretty LOUD folks who may have had a bit too much to drink and forget or don't care that there are guests staying in rooms near the area they are walking past. It can get pretty bad at times, other times you don't hear anything. This is just something to be aware of if you choose a BW view room. That being said, it looks like Jellyrolls hasn't been reopened yet so it may be a non-issue.
If you can tolerate the possibility of loud noise later into the night a BW view room can't be beat. The views are probably the best on property.
Love that view, what room is that?Everyone tooting Boardwalk view but in the south building villas, you can see Hollywood Studios and should be able to see fireworks on the third fourth and fifth floor facing south.
Plus water and lots of trees, some nice views.
You can find these on touring plans' site.
