BWV buses suck

Not everyone's preferred place to stay. Last place for me.

Not our preferred place either. Hate, hate, HATE the parking. It's just that we are traveling with others who want to be there. And there is that little matter of saving 51 points. :rolleyes1

If we can't get a 2br standard at 7 months we will be more than happy to stay at BCV.

Are you upset because the CM quoted you the wrong wait time?

Or that you had to wait 20 minutes for a bus?

Maybe a good question is what is everyone's expectation on wait times for the bus?

We've never stayed at BWV but I remember the days when we stayed at BCV and the bus stopped BC, YC, BWV and S/D. At least that has stopped.

I've never had an issue with Disney's bus service. I much prefer it over renting a car.

A bit of both... It was frustrating because No bus showed up the last 10 mins the CM was "monitoring" plus No bus (for any park/DTD) showed up for another 25 mins.. no bus for anyone for at least 35 mins..

And they do occasionally still have busses that stop at all 5. Twice, we left DHS in the afternoon (for a nap) and due to storms in the area, the Friendship boats were closed, so we took a bus...that stopped at S then D then YC then BC then finally BW..

I wrote them too. maybe if enough people are concerned they will take note

Sorry Dsruba but I have to disagree. It is valid to compare WDW busses and a major merto system. WDW has the 3 or 4th largest bus system in Florida, depending on whose stats you read, it moves thousands of people a day. My point is simply if you live in a metro area you have to wait for busses, sometimes they come, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they're crowded, sometimes not. You just cope the best you can, again if you don't want to wait rent a car and drive, otherwise you do as when you're home, you deal with it. Waiting 20 to 30 minutes is not outrageous it's standard per Disney's info for guests. As I stated, in over 40 trips to BWV we have nothing but good to say about the busses. Maybe we're just lucky that way.

We are doing a split stay this June between BCV and BWV. Based on this thread, is it safe to say that we should

- do MK and AKV while we are at BCV
- do HS and Epcot while we're at BWV?

I know people have mentioned that it's walking distance, but I have 4 small kids and we still have 1 stroller, so I don't know if the walk is "kid" friendly.

It's about 1/2 mile walk to EPCOT and a little farther to DHS, depending on where your room is located. But since you have a stroller, you'll be starting out from the lobby, so DHS is close to 3/4 of a mile.

June can be HOT! Even though my DH & I love to walk (and do) to both parks, I'd take the boat in June, or any time in the summer, late spring or early fall. The kids will enjoy the boat ride. Walking in the heat will get them tired before you even get to the park.

All this talk is making me rethink my decision to switch from BCV to BWV at 7 months in September (to save 51 points, it still may be worth it).

We will have a car but but we all know about the parking situation there.

Worst bus service, worst parking, legendary long hallways, scary clown pool and it's still everybody's preferred place to stay. :thumbsup2

We don't bring a car, have had really good luck with buses, and found the remote location of the BCV rooms relative to the main resort a bigger issue (and much longer walk) than any hallway length we've ever had at BWV. And the kids love the slide much more than they did anything about SAB (which disappointed me, we booked BCV for SAB and ended up hopping over to BWV :))

Didn't know there was a boat... That's great! I might move our BWV ressie at the end of the trip to one closer to MK, maybe VWL is lucky... All this bus talk is scaring me! :)

Well I've been here at BWV for over a week and I love being able to walk to Epcot and DHS, but the buses to anywhere else are completely horrible. Doesn't matter when or where I'm taking a bus, every single time they have been completely jammed pack. Half the time they leave people behind. And everytime there is always a group getting off at the Swan/Dolphin to walk back to the resort.

It's just about enough to make we want to go back to renting a car.

I think BWV deserves a prize for the worst bus service on site.

Seems like the bus service is still the same, stayed at BWV back in 2009 and we just hopped off at the first Swolphin stop and walked back. We were in a BW view close to Jellyrolls so it was actually faster to do that.

The hopping off at the Swolphin has been a long time DIS tip(I've been on here since 2006) for BWV.

I disagree. BWV buses are our favorite because heading back to the resort, you often have two options. i.e If you're MK, you can hop the BW bus or BC bus directly across the bus area. Sure, it's a 5 minute walk from BC to BW, but worth it. Yes, we've had problems leaving from the resort, but not more so than any other resort we've had. In our last trip, we didn't wait more than 30 seconds each time -- we walked up and boom, the bus was there.

well on another thread someone recommended if you arent happy sell your ownership. Imagine that nonesense.:rolleyes1

Well I did just that. That beloved boardwalk view was not enough to justify keeping our contract. The noise from the late night hours on the boardwalk, the terrible parking, the sloooowwww busses and the lack of counter service all pushed us to the point of selling. We are now very happy owners at VWL.

It's REALLY hot in the boat in June. There is no a/c and the windows open but the ventilation is awful. I used in I. May and sept and was miserable.

I really really want to sell our BWV for VWL but DH disagrees :(

Thats what I was trying to explain on another thread here but I guess it was hard for some people to believe that people will sell their DVC if they arent happy.

Love the BWV but the bus system is definitely worse based on our experiences at other resorts.

I own at both BLT and BWV....much larger contract is at BWV. I love BWV. I have never had any noise issues with a boardwalk view...not from the second floor, not from the fifth floor. Parking isn't all that much worse than any other resort. Yes, it can be a longish walk but if you want close proximity to your car, you're better off at a value.
Buses??? I did have some pretty bad bus karma between Dec 6 and 13. I was at AoA the first night.....buses there were nothing to write home about. At least not compared with Pop.
Then, it was over to SSR......waited for close to an hour for a bus to SSR from AK. Nasty!!!! I never had a wait like that with BW buses. And they continued to be long waits, although not an hour. And by the time you leave the actual grounds of SSR?? You've been on the bus for 15/20 mins, if you're the first stop!!!

I have never had an issue with BW buses. I find them to be no worse than most other resort buses. When compared with other resorts, it all averages out. Sure, sometimes the bus stops at YC/BC, but not always. Yes, the bus does stop at the S/D. Some say that they should have their own buses. If that were the case, BW would always be combined with YC/BC!!!

From what I understand, the past few weeks have been very hard bus-wise. Many, many people were complaining about the buses when I was there. I saw CMs logging in buses and bus times at AoA and SSR...as well as some of the park stops. I have a feeling that something out of the ordinary was going on. We actually got put on plain, white buses several times. Regular tour buses. We were told that it was due to the PW kids. But, I've been at WDW at the same time as these groups at least 7 times now....there were never the bus issues we had this time around. And we were never put on a regular bus in the past.

I think we need to wait and see what shakes out here. I'm not selling my contract. The only place I would consider buying would be AKL/Kidani. And my dh doesn't like it there...:confused3. Stayed at VWL and wasn't crazy about it. Same with SSR and OKW. I like BCV well enough but not buying there.

I am remaining positive that the buses will not be as bad as stated here on our first stay at BWV if it is better than AKV busses than I am good because we had great bus service there two yrs ago

Hopes are that Disney's NextGen project will improve the bus system. The dispatch system that was installed a few years ago never had a good way of tracking guests. Now with the NextGen RFID implementation, guests can wave their wrist band or room key past a reader in the bus queue area and as they get on the bus. Disney can then use the info to dispatch additional buses to congested stops.

Um, that was me and you are quoting me out of context. What I said was that if you are unhappy with the DVC resorts (as you certainly seem to be) you should think about whether DVC is right for you. I do not think this is the same scenario. This is a case of a bus system that isn't working well and that can easily be retooled to be more efficient. Apples and oranges.

I am not quoting you number one... number two I am simply restating what you recommended and yes I was talking about DVC and all its issues not just the resort. Possibly I am comparing apples to apples and you think I am not we obviously do not see it the same way and in my world its ok to agree to disagree. Oh and I love DVC you took it as a general I hate DVC but it is not without its problems and some things would be a nice perk to fix and bus service is a perk. You jumped the gun to day I do not like DVC at all. I just have high expectations for my vacations so what.
