BWV buses suck

Not to start an argument, but have stayed at BWV (twice a year) since it opened in 1996. Personally I don't think the bus service is all that bad. Now my point of view may be skewed because I live in a major U.S. city with a huge mass transportation sysytem. If you're from a city with a major bus service the service at the BW is not bad. If you expect a bus to be at your beck and call, rent a car, otherwise chill out, relax you're on vacation the parks will still be there when you get there. Remember it's a free service not a limo.

I am from Chicago and find its transportation systems more reliable than BWV. But comparing it to a big city is not a a valid comparison. Comparing it to other systems at WDW is probably better and that is where BWV has consistently lost the battle in my experience. I also own at AKV and find its bus system to be like you have died and gone to heaven in comparison to BWV, not just because it serves only one resort but because it is more reliable and has far less delays than BWV, where delays seem to be the norm rather than the exception. I have also stayed most of the other resorts in the past and the BW system is the worst of all of them. Every trip I have ever had to BWV (and that is over 30 week long or longer trips) I have experienced at least one major event of delay and usually multiple ones. I cannot count the number of times I have waited for an AK bus to come at the resort and for 40 to 45 minutes three to four MK busses show up and no AK bus, or vice versa. Likewise at least once every trip we have waited at MK or AK 50 minutes or more for a bus to come while mutltiple busses come for every other resort and when the bus shows up the driver never has any idea there was ever a delay. I was there in June and had that experience at MK. I was there in January and had it at AK (that one was one of the worst because the delay was well over an hour; the line for the BW bus got so long that it actually ran back towards the park past where the bus depot began and the other resorts never had more than 30 to 40 people in a line before a bus showed up). Another activity of delay that happens too often is to be picked up at BWV and then go to Swan and Dolphin and for no apparent reason sit and wait at each of those stops 5 minutes or more after everyone has boarded (my guess they are just doing that so I will have another 50 minute wait at MK). When staying at other resorts I have experienced delays once in a while but never with frequency and length that I have had far too many times at BWV.

I don't think it has gotten worse. I remember when I first stayed there over 10 years ago, the busses stopped at Swan > Dolphin > Yacht Club > Beach Club > Boardwalk. I only take the bus to MK and in recent years it has been Boardwalk > Swan > Dolphin. I think on my last trip in early May we had a morning bus that went straight to MK. I always drive to AK and DTD.

We stayed at the BWV 12/6-12/13. We took an evening bus to MK- no problems and an early morning bus to AK-no problems. Being able to walk to 2 parks offsets any inconvience for us. We often get off at the Swan and walk back to the BW.

What I'm comparing it to is the level of bus service at other Disney resorts. And compared to those other resorts it has seemed terrible.

I was here last year at the exact same two week period and was staying at SSR and AKV and the bus service to both those resorts was way, way better.

Do you regret purchasing DVC at BWV?

I'd agree with BWV busses are just bad..

This summer (July) we got to the bus stop at the end of the CM's bus monitoring shift. After 10 mins he was leaving and I asked how long til the next MK bus, he said 10 minutes.....no bus at all showed up for the next 20 minutes ... :(

Plus I never experienced a crowd at the MK bus stop to a resort as under served as the BW busses. (I wrote to member satisfaction while i was waiting for 3 rows of BW guests when every other stop had 10 or fewer guests....it obviously didnt do the OP any good).
plus you always feel 2nd class having to stop at a non-Disney resort.

Are you upset because the CM quoted you the wrong wait time?

Or that you had to wait 20 minutes for a bus?

Maybe a good question is what is everyone's expectation on wait times for the bus?

We've never stayed at BWV but I remember the days when we stayed at BCV and the bus stopped BC, YC, BWV and S/D. At least that has stopped.

I've never had an issue with Disney's bus service. I much prefer it over renting a car.

It is the least favorite part of the BWV experience. you can't there from here and bring book while you wait.
At OKW it is usually better.

I found the ppl on the bus to be very rude. I have 2 small twins and we found usually only women gave up a seat for them (they fit in 1 seat together) and yes they were always packed. It was very tiresome.

We stayed at BWV in March, but we did not use the buses. We loved walking to Epcot and HS. We had a rental car to get to AK and MK.

I'm not trying to to hijack this thread, but I am trying to figure out if BC is still a part of the BWV bus route. We are hoping to stay there sometime in late June or July at some point in the next year or two. We usually stay at AK-Kidani, and have been spoiled by the bus service at that resort.

Is BC/YC still a part of the BWV bus circuit?:confused3

Sometimes. In my experience, the buses stop at all 5 resorts during mid-day when fewer people are traveling. During "rush hours", the YC & BC/ BCV have their own route and the BWV Swan & Dolphin have their own route.

Thanks! We are trying to decide between BLT and BCV for our upcoming summer trip. The family who are traveling with us are MK people, but we will spend a great deal of time at the pool during the summer. I worry about the mid-day crowds at the BLT pool. It seems like the BCV or BWV pool has a larger capacity than the BLT pool.

We are doing a split stay this June between BCV and BWV. Based on this thread, is it safe to say that we should

- do MK and AKV while we are at BCV
- do HS and Epcot while we're at BWV?

I know people have mentioned that it's walking distance, but I have 4 small kids and we still have 1 stroller, so I don't know if the walk is "kid" friendly.

That's a whole nuther issue. Lots of people will say if you want a seat, wait for the next bus. And you just don't know if the people sitting did wait for the next bus so they could have a seat. And then there are the hidden disabilities.

All this talk is making me rethink my decision to switch from BCV to BWV at 7 months in September (to save 51 points, it still may be worth it).

We will have a car but but we all know about the parking situation there.

Worst bus service, worst parking, legendary long hallways, scary clown pool and it's still everybody's preferred place to stay. :thumbsup2

Not everyone's preferred place to stay. Last place for me.

Us too, in fact I won't stay there anymore. We have tried and tried to like it, give it a second chance, even third. We just always had horrible stays there.

We call it the curse of the Clown, :joker:

Finally decided to just give up and let someone that likes the place have the room we would have taken. :wave2:
