Howdy everyone,

I am approaching my 7 month window and want to book a studio at BWV for our upcoming trip for 3/6/05 - 3/12/05.

I would really like a great view of EPCOT. Do I need to book a standard or preferred view to get this. Also can you see Wishes from any rooms at BWV.

Last question, do you think it will be difficult to book this type of room at the 7 month window for March?

Thanks a bunch,
Frank:jester:

There is a view of the EPCOT fireworks from many of the upper floor rooms at the BWV but no real view of EPCOT. For that you will have to go to the BCV. There is an excellent view of much of MGM from the rooms on the pool side of the resort. We have heard here (and I will experience in November) that Boardwalk view rooms have a view of "Wishes" in the distance. I have to admit though that much of the fun from wishes for me is the sound track so I'm not sure how impressed I will be without it.

Here's a picture, courtesy of DisneyPix.com to give you some perspective. EPCOT is at the top and the BWV is at the bottom right and the BCV is at the bottom left.

Thanks, I fixed it. Typing too fast I guess.

I think you mean BCV is at the bottom left and BWV is at the bottom right. In fact, you can just barely see BWV. Most of what you see is BW Inn.
The picture really helps you see how everything is laid out. Thank you for posting it!
And you can see the high Illumination fireworks from the upper floors of the standard view rooms as well. The view is better the farther from the elevator you are as long as you are not all the way down on the section that faces the tennis courts.

Thanks for the help, anybody know if a studio will be hard to book at the 7 month window for march 6 - 12.

Thanks,
Frank

You stand a very good chance for a studio during that time period. Good luck. Why don't you call on the first day that you can make a reservation for March 6 and ask how things look?

I agree with Happy Birthday Cat about calling on the first day (when you can book March 6th) and see what the availability looks like. You can always reserve the first day and then call back on successive days (or at least once every 2-3 days) so you can 'beat' those people who may wait until they can book their entire week. This is especially important if you want to snag a standard-view unit (which represent only about 20% of the units at BWV).

BWV is our home resort and we always book a standard-view 1BR unit at the 11-month mark, and I always call to reserve 3 days at a time. So for our 9-day trip next June I just called 3 times in 3-day increments to ensure that we'd get a standard-view unit.

In my opinion, standard-view is the way to go at BWV because you use less points and we actually enjoy facing the front of the resort where we can see the Illuminations fireworks each night from our balcony. We also like the rooms furthest from the elevators (across from the bus stop) because there are doors that allow you easy access to the bus (no need to walk back to the elevators and exit thru the lobby), and you are close to Community Hall where we love to spend our afternoons.

In order to get a view of Epcot, without booking a standard view room, you'll need to book a preferred/Boardwalk view room. Those rooms are directly over the Boardwalk, and yes, you do have a view of Wishes in the distance over YC. We also could see all of Illuminations from our balcony, so it truly was a great room. At 7 months, it's probably going to be tough to get a Boardwalk view room, since I believe they account for only 10% of the rooms at BWV. I was lucky enough to snag one at the 7 month window for our July trip, and it truly was the best DVC room we've ever stayed in. We loved it so much, we're adding on points at BWV so we can guarantee ourselves that room EVERY year!!!

I am not sure about that time of year, but I know it is really tough to get either a standard view room or a boardwalk view room at BWV. It seems the bulk of the rooms are 'preferred water' view which is mostly pool views. They take the same amount of points as a boardwalk view, and the view is (arguably) not as nice as a boardwalk view, so they are less than optimal. The standard rooms are a great value and the views are actually half-way decent, so they tend to get snatched up fairly quickly.

We were able to watch Wishes from the balcony right off the lobby at BWV (where they have rocking chairs etc.). The view was perfectly centered for the fireworks show...it was a real treat! While we couldn't see it from our room, we were still able to catch it.

If you can't get a standard view or a guaranteed Boardwalk view, request a "Village Green" view. These rooms also have a view of the higher level fireworks from IllumiNations and are considered a Preferred View Pool/Garden.

Of course, you already know that requests are not guaranteed and that there are only a few rooms that overlook the Village Green (grass area between the BW lobby and Crescernt Lake).

Best wishes -
