BWV 1BR only 16 pts per night

WLV is our favorite, but we were thinking about trying the BWV or BCV. We were wondering why the 1BR at the BWV is only 16 points for a standard view. The view doesn't really matter much to us. Just wondering if there is something else we are missing. They seem to be similar in size.

The rooms are the exact same as the preferred/boardwalk views.
The only difference is that you are overlooking the enterance and parking areas. We have stayed in them many times without complaint... Although I prefer the Boardwalk view.

ABout 20% of the rooms are standard view. When the BWV were built, they decided that they would make the rooms overlooking the parkign lot and front drive a separate booking category with lower points than those overlooking the pool and Boardwalk.

Some folks actually buy BWV points in order to get 11 month advantage booking for standard view rooms because they are so many less points. Although we love BW view we have stayed in standard view rooms a couple of times when BW view was full. The view of Epcot fireworks was actually pretty good from our standard view rooms. And we love the proximity to Epcot and MGM from all rooms at BWV.

Yes the points are lower, but getting them is not easy. Often they are not available or available for the entire stay when calling at the 7 month window. If you are looking during quieter times your chances are good (esp. September). If you are interested during holidays and F&W, your chances are not good. We stayed here once and bought points as soon as we got home. We now use most of our BWV points for our 2 week October visit and book at the 11 month window for a standard studio.

An Update: I tried calling at the 7 month window for the first week of May for a 1 bedroom standard and it was not available. This is a slower time of year, so wanted the OP to know that it is indeed not an easy reservation to get. Of course, I do plan to waitlist for it after I get a solid reservation first.

IMHO, the standard view rooms at the BWV are the best bargain DVC has! Low points and a fantastic location - walkable to two major parks with many fine restaurants and an entertainment area just steps from your door.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the view and a portion of the SV rooms even have a view of fireworks from the balcony.

There's a reason that those rooms book up so quickly - for most times of the year, they book before the 7 month window even opens.

Consider yourself very lucky enough to get one at 7 months. It happens, but it is NOT the norm.

I am another in total agreement!

In fact, I am trying to persuade my sister to purchase at AKV instead of waiting for Contemporary due mainly to their Value rooms. Anytime you can stay in DVC quality for a little less, it's not just a good deal... It's a GREAT deal!
