BWI vs. BC ~~ Romantic Getaway

I have not yet stayed at either BC or BW although I will be at BWI tomorrow for my fist stay there. I have stayed at YC and found SAB to be crowded and noisy due to the large amount of children staying at BC, so much so we as a family 4 Adults used the quiet pool and hot tube never stepping foot in SAB.

I like the decor of BW a little better than BC it just has a more charming feel/appeal I think, I was booked at BC at one point but switched resorts.

Both have QS breakfast options as mentioned by pp and if you head over to Epcot, SunShine Seasons has breakfast options too.

Personally I would pick BWI for the many more QS options, and I think the more romantic feel of the resort in addition to the night life on the boardwalk. The lobby at BC can get quite loud and busy as others have mentioned due to Cape May Character breakfast and the popularity of Cape May Clam Bake in the evenings

Like a few of my fellow posters, I agree that YC is a better choice. I stayed there with my mom back in December and felt that it was more adult like and the decor just felt more sophisticated. Definitely a lot less children on the YC side and me being in my 20's that wasn't a huge factor in my ultimate decision but i definitely made a point to remind myself of the YC next time i wanted to try a more romantic and relaxed atmosphere with my DBF.

Goodluck with all your planning, i'm sure anything decisions you make she will love! (i know i would!) :thumbsup2

I might also think about the Swan/Dolphin. You're still in the Epcot resorts area, and you might get a much better price. Just one more thing to think about....

One thing I forgot to mention in my above post is if a balcony is important to you BW or YC are better choices. Only about 50% of the BC rooms have a full balcony the rest have a juliet type balcony. BW only has a few, 3-4 rooms that do not have a balcony.

You're in your 20's and on Long Island?!?!? So am I!!!! Lol

YC is more expensive...I really can't do it...i was so set on BWI, but my guidebook had a lot of baaaad things to say bout it. BC they liked better and I thought being there would be quieter since we'd be off and away from the hustle and bustle of the BoardWalk.

Ignore the Unofficial Guide! I was surprised to read the bad Boardwalk reviews last year in that right before our trip and I was worried I made a mistake. I don't know what UG"s problem was because we absolutely loved the Boardwalk, thought it was an amazing resort with gorgeous rooms, an incredible staff, charming ambience, fabulous pool - it did not disappoint and we would stay there again without hesitation. :goodvibes

Thank you so much. I mean...I do find it strange that every single review I read on BWI is extremely positive, and then I read Unofficial Guide's reviews and comments and it's totally contradictory! They rate it like a C (A-F grading) overall. Makes me question UG's judgments on other things....I feel like I shoulda bought Passporter's guide instead or something...I just wanted something I can rely on. I haven't been to WDW since like 2004, and a lot has changed! I mean I haven't even been to AK yet! And Toy Story Mania!? What's that?!? (I know what it is...I'm just saying like...I don't remember it being there when I was in high school lol).

I'm really excited, and i'm planning this trip OCD-style. I have a .txt file on my computer that's like a graduate thesis. I'd love to put my trip plan on here, and see if anyone has any comments...maybe I'll do that on another section on disboards. hmm...

In case I didn't say it enough...thank you so much everyone!!! :earsboy:

You mean it was all mucked up in that dense chocolate cream? lol

Yeah, I guess so! It was just kind of standing in it just like it would in a ring box. I'm thinking she didn't mind much! ;)

Turns out Yacht Club would cost me around $500 more for the whole vacation over BWI or BC.

OH! also.....allears looks outdated. I've come to that conclusion lol. If you get a chance...look at the room photos of BC on allears, and then on the disneyworld website. Which is more accurate for room photos of BC?

Are you comparing the same view when you price the two resorts, because BC and YC are priced the same? :confused3

Also, not sure about which pictures you are looking at on allears, but here are some pictures from when we stayed at both. These are the most recent renovated rooms there.

I personally love both resorts - and own points at both. For different reasons. the one thing I dislike about Boardwalk is trying to find a protein breakfast. Yes you can get carbs and sugar galore, but not eggs, not bacon or sausage. You CAN walk outside and line up for a really long time at the bakery and get a breakfast sandwich, but I have never had the patience to wait in line that long. It drives me nuts. I have started taking instant oatmeal and blueberries and yogurt to eat in my room when I stay there or go down for a sit down breakfast. Pizza for breakfast? please..... no!

LOL thats so funny!

I stayed at the BWI back in 2009 with my DBF for his first ever Dis trip and he LOVED it! We never though it was noisy at all and it's very cute. Being young we thought it was great to hang on the boardwalk at night and just watch all the people walk around....My opinion, you can't believe most of the books you read, the Disboards gives the best info....I wouldn't shut out BWI just yet! :)

I agree with ignoring the bad reviews about BWI. If you have your heart set on it, I don't think you will be disappointed. It is a beautiful and romantic resort.

Okie doke. Thank you very very much!

Sooooo what's a guy to do about a protein breakfast in the BoardWalk area?

There's 4 mornings to fend for ourselves for breakfast without characters or in-room dining.

PS:...I already have my coffee plans for Starbucks at Swan/Dolphin ;)

kouzzina'a on the BW serves full, sitdown breakfasts:)

btw, my choices would definately be BWI, or YC. BC is a pretty resort, but we find it more noisy and chaotic than the other two (there tends to be more little ones there.....great if you have a toddler).

on tht other hand, BWI is a very romantic resort, with lots of activities at your fingertips but not in your face ;) we have found all 3 resorts very clean, with great atmospheres and friendly staff.
