I'm trying to decide between Boardwalk Inn and Beach Club Resort for my girlfriend and I in July. I'm surprising her for her birthday, and I'm even going to propose. I've decided that I want to be in the Epcot area. It's walkable to DHS and Epcot..PLUS...Boardwalk nightlife. I wanted that crisp, white, clean look. I as really close to WL, but I decided I'd rather be in the center of WDW and mega-close to Epcot and DHS.

But as a romantic trip for the two of us, I really want it to be special. So for a couple in our 20's, for her birthday, and a proposal, I want it to be fantastic. So which would be more romantic? I've heard that BWI doesn't have any QS food. I mean it's not a big deal...I'm looking to search for breakfast in the BWI/BC/YC area like 4 or 5 days of the 7-day trip. As long as we can find some eggs, cereal, and coffee, it's all good. Lunch and Dinner is going to be in the parks for the most part.

Would BC be more quiet? It's on the other side of the Boardwalk across from BWI, right? Meaninggg....away from the action? The room quality looks really similar. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

PS: Getting advice from girls with any proposal ideas is EXTREMELY encouraged lol :thumbsup2

Actually the Boardwalk does have Quick Service locations and for the record they have more then the Beach Club does. For example there is Boardwalk Bakery, Boardwalk Pizza Window, Boardwalk To Go, Boardwalk Joes, Seahsore Sweets, Tasty Sensations and Belle Vue Lounge.

Also each time I have stayed at the Boardwalk Inn I happened to have a Boardwalk view and noise was never a problem.

BC usually has more kids because of the pool. Neither resort is especially noisy. If I had to choose the more romantic, it would be the Boardwalk.

As you can see from my SIG... I am very partial to the BC ...

At BC... you have ample visitation to the Boardwalk for the Night Life.. but you also get to have Storm Along Bay, beautiful scenery via the beach, hot tubs, etc.

The BC Marketplace has Breakfast CS options.

For the Proposal?

Book an Illuminations Cruise.... It sets off between BC andYC.... cruise in your own Special captained pontoon boat (share with others to share expense).....

Pontoon boat takes a cruise and will park for a view of Illuminations at Epcot....

Right after Epcot (or during the fireworks) is where you Propose....

Just a thought.... You can bring decorations/cake, etc. We did for our celebrations during our Illuminations cruise ....
Have a magical visit !

Thanks so much! Everyone's so helpful on here lol. I read somewhere that the pontoon is unavailable until further notice since (I think) September. I mean it's not really what I'd like to do anyway, so it's cool. I was thinking about in a secluded area within one of the nations during or after Illuminations.

I agree with BWI...I know you love BC! But BWI speaks to me...what can I say.

Quick question to everyone though....does BWI have CS for breakfast?!? Or just BC?

I'm having the strongest feeling of deja vu... :rotfl:

You know my answer. Now, I really love BC, but there are a lot more kids and the lobby is a lot more active thanks to the character buffet right off the lobby. The pool is incredible. But there's nothing particularly romantic about it...I mean, it's a nice resort, but not what comes to mind when I think "romance."

FYI, more detail on counter service at BW:
Bellevue Room only has continental breakfast offerings.
Boardwalk Bakery has some hot food, but only a couple of breakfast sandwiches.
Seashore Sweets has ice cream desserts and candy.
Boardwalk Joe's has coffee, wine, beer, pastries and popcorn.
Leaping Horse Libations pool bar actually has more real food - sandwiches and kids meals in addition to snacks and drinks.

Geez, you're really putting alot into this aren't you?!?!;)

Both are great resorts, and both have their advantages and disadvantages. My only gripe with BWI is that almost all of the restaurants have to be accessed from the outside. Not a big deal, but I've always seen lines out of the bakery door in them morning similar to those at the Main Street Bakery in the MK. It's great stuff there, but I just hate having to wait in line for coffee and a donut (maybe it's the advanced Dunkin' Donuts training that we have here in the Northeast!). You really can't go wrong with either.

As for proposal ideas, how about doing it at the Wishes Dessert Party at teh MK? You'll have a killer view of Wishes, there won't be as many peoplae around you, and you'll have a Photopass photographer right there to capture the moment! Good luck!

Yeah..I am putting a lot into this, RoyDavid. We're probably less than an hour away from each other by car by the way. Any chance you frequent Atlantic City like me??? slotmachinesforum.com is a great place..

Sorry..I went off on a tangent for a sec. Anyway, the Wishes Dessert Party is an idea I never really thought of for an engagement idea. Thank you so so much!

As for breakfast...as long as it has A) an option for eggs, doesnt have to be a sandwich, B) has cereal and/or pancakes and/or french toast, and C) has coffee. I know WDW is into the instant coffee stuff...or so I hear. I'm a coffee junkie..from New York no less...so I need it. I'd be sunk without my morning cup o' joe.

I've stayed at both & would choose BC for romance, hands down. BWI always has a nostalgic yet "busy" feel for me. Both have QS options for breakfast. At BC Marketplace they do have a few hot breakfast options. I'm not sure Boardwalk Bakery does.

BC has a beach area, I think an evening stroll on the beach would be super romantic. If you take a walk out the front of BC, where BCV are, it's very secluded & quiet. I've never found a spot (yet) at BWI that I'd call quiet & secliued!

YC might even have a more romantic feel, as someone else mentioned.

Good luck whatever you plan!

No kidding?! I went to Stockton, so I've done my share of partying down in AC. I still go every now and then, but with Mt. Airy only an hour away, I end up going there if I need a fix. I still head to AC for a poker tourney once in a great while.

With regards to breakfast, the BC Marketplace usually has those items you're requesting, though if coffee is really your thing, the best place for great coffee is at the Kona Cafe at the Poly. Not only does it taste great, it'll put some hair on your chest!

Like I said before, each resort will have its advantages and disadvantages. Lots of people talk about theming and atmosphere and the Disney magic. The bottom line is you need to feel like you're a million miles away from the real world, and most importantly, you need to be able to relax at the resort you choose. Everyone has an opinion, and people will disagree with others about the level of service they've received in the same hotels. Go with the one that appeals to you the most and enjoy. Something tells me that you could be staying in some two-bit motel and you'd be happy because you'll be begining your journey of sharing your life with the one you love. Best of luck, and let us know what you decide!

Thanks RoyDavid. I'll be sure to take all of your advice in, and try to make a decision. I wish I could visit each one for a night or something and see lol. Sometimes photos and varied opinions can only do so much!

Just sayin' .... for the proposal.. you know they do the horse drawn carriage rides.... (is it at POFQ? OR POR?)

Anyway... it's a thought.... Love the PP's wishes idea as well.....

Okay, after reading a huge chunk of 'The Unofficial Guide to WDW', I want to re-ignite this thread.

Turns out that after I have 90-99% of my heart set on BWI, the Unofficial Guide had all negative comments, including negative guest comments and reviews. They had much better things to say about BC.

So after all that....I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with BC.

What do you think???

I've never stayed at BWI, so I can't lend an opinion to that resort, but I have stayed at both Beach Club and Yacht Club. Yacht Club is a little quieter than BC, and has a more elegant feel to the rooms, lobby, etc.

As far as the proposal....Several years ago when we were having breakfast at the Castle with Cinderella, there was a proposal at the table next to us. The ring came out in this chocolate slipper-

Looks as if she didn't even eat the dessert, just took the ring! :)

You mean it was all mucked up in that dense chocolate cream? lol

All kidding aside...it sounds really romantic and I've heard of it, but never actually saw what one of the chocolate slippers looked like!

Thanks! :thumbsup2

I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. Both qualify as romantic, and both have a "quiet mood" to them. On one hand some people might suggest that Stormalong Bay makes the BC pool area a little more noisy, but the far end toward the Yacht Club is a lot more laid back. Probably even more so than BWI's pool area.

Really it just comes down to preference over theme. Both are terrific resorts.

I've stayed at BWV (the villas, not the Inn) many times as well as BC. Of course, I LOVE the pool at BC and the location. I find the BWI to be more romantic though...refined and beautiful. My advice for resort is don't sweat this. You will be happy at either place, and would also throw the Yacht Club in there as well. I like the Dessert Party idea for a proposal. I also like the idea of grabbing a glass of champagne in France, and sitting on one of the benches in their garden area for a proposal. I would find that incredibly romantic. Best of luck on your decisions. That's one lucky girl you have.

Thank you so much everyone!

Turns out Yacht Club would cost me around $500 more for the whole vacation over BWI or BC. I don't think I'm gonna do that. I also think BWI looks more romantic. But the Unofficial Guide I bought yesterday gave it TERRIBLE reviews. :confused3 And gave BC much better reviews. From the authors and from customer surveys & reviews too. Either way, the book also gives the best rooms at each resort...and actual room numbers. They tell you what level of sound you'll expect in each room (A - F grading), and what kind of view you'll have. So i'll keep all of it in mind......

OH! also.....allears looks outdated. I've come to that conclusion lol. If you get a chance...look at the room photos of BC on allears, and then on the disneyworld website. Which is more accurate for room photos of BC?
