Has anyone parked offsite at BWI? The prices are a lot less. However, I wonder about safety of your vehicle and timeliness and reliablity of the shuttles.

I did a search and could not find anything recent...anyone have any opinions or experiences to share?

TIA

We always use Airport fastPark--absolutely reliable, secure. We used to use the BWI's own shuttle lot--but after several long waits for the bus (once over a half hour at 5:30 AM), we gave that up. At the private run lots, they have a small shuttle bus that virtually meets you at your car just as you are arriving. No waiting. And the driver will help load/unload the luggage.
To note there are several other private shuttle-type lots and I believe they all operate in similar fashion.

We use FastPark. $6.00 a day with internet coupon or AAA membership or FastPark membership. As soon as you pull in a bus is waiting behind your vehicle to help you with your luggage and get you to the airport. You can also use Long term green lot but we have not used it since we discovered FastPark.

We have used the blue FastPark several times over the last three years & have been very satisfied. They pick you up right at your car - usually as you are pulling into the space :). The driver usually gets out to help you. In the morning we usually get a Baltimore newspaper. In warmer weather they have small bottles of cold water.

We used "PreFlight" parking - works just as the others described above and the cost was comparable. We arrived very early in the morning (before the airport check in desks were open) and the shuttle was parked by a vacant space, flashing his hi-beams for us. We returned to the parking after mid-night and only had to wait a few minutes for the shuttle to make it's rounds.
I would use them again - particularly with the web coupon and reservation.

We've parked offsite from BWI before. The way we handled it is we booked an early morning flight to Disney and stayed at a hotel by BWI that offers a shuttle to and from the airport and you can leave your vehicle in their lot until after your vacation. We never had any problems at all. We saved a bundle of money too because we reserved a cheap room at I believe Howard Johnson's and didn't have to pay the security fees at the airport for parking.:yay:

We have used Pre Flight three times so far and have had no problems. They have an internet coupon. As soon as we park...the shuttle is there and we have had no problems getting back to our van either.

We did the same as the poster above...we stayed overnight and left our car at the hotel. The shuttle took us to the airport and picked us up when we returned. We booked in at parksleepfly.com I think and loved it.

we are using pre-flight tomorrow:woohoo: flight leaves @ 6am. We will report back our experience when we get back on Tues.

I'm leaning toward trying one of these options. We leave Friday  and if my car is going to be out in the cold anyway - might as well pay less. (I spend a lot of time reading the budget board.)

No problem getting back to the lot when you return? Right?

Where do you get the shuttles? Same place as BWI parking shuttles?

THANKS!!

We have used this on the last few trips, its 2.00 more per day, ($10) they used to have a coupon on-line :( its so close, under cover, but you have to take elevator to floor 1 for bus pickup. We have used them the last 3 trips, make sure u write down your row number, we lost our car once :)

We had no problem getting the shuttle when we returned. We called the number they gave us when we had our baggage and went outside where all the hotel shuttles are. They were there in 10 mins and dropped us back right at our car.
