We are thinking of switching our resort to the BWI, but I am concerned by the lack of CS restaurants.
I know they have the bakery which would be ok for breakfast.

My question is how long is the walk over to the BC to grab something at Hurricane Hanna's?

TIA!

It's not that far but you do have some other options. At the Boardwalk is the Spoodles pizza take out window. They also have salads. They open at 11:30 or noon. Across from there is the hot dog place with a lot of different options. I think that opens around the same time. Also at the Beach Club is Beaches and Cream. At the Dolphin, there's Picabo's cafeteria and a burger/ice cream fountain type place (used to be called the Dolphin Fountain). The Swan has the Splash Grill at it's quiet pool area. The Yacht Club Galley is a table service but you could more than likely walk up and get seated.

I totally agree with what you are saying. I think they Boardwalk is a very nice Resort and it looks like a fun place to stay. My family and I have visited there a few times and when we talked about staying there the question about a lack of a true counter service location is what made us say let's not stay there. I guess we are use to the Food & Fun Center at the Contemporary which has a full menu of items to choose from and tables to sit down and eat. So for my family and I a true counter service location inside the Resort is something important to us. Plus we don't see ourselves not staying on the Magic Kingdom Resort Monorail line, because having the Monorail makes things so much easier.

Thanks for the help! I did forget about the pizza window and it does seem like a nice walk around the boardwalk to explore the other resorts...

Yup, that is my problem too - the Food and Fun is so convenient and we love the monorail...the CR is probably our favorite place. I was concerned for this trip because I think the construction might be an issue. I spoke to a great CM today on the phone that confirmed what I had read about the Grand Concourse being prepared to house the arcade. He couldn't say too much about the Concourse SH moving (we do have an ADR there for this trip)..
I had wanted to try the AKL also, but am worried about the construction there. Don't mean to sound too picky - we really aren't. It is just that I don't want to have to be wondering about the state of things at the resort. I know WDW goes out of their way not to inconvenience the guests, just my personal choice...
Besides, I thought it would be fun to try something new "on the other side of town"..

Not sure if this is what the CM told you but what I was told the arcade is moving to where the Fantasia store is and it is true because at the end of January it closed and is now borded up. So basically if it is not moving there why would all that have happened to the Fantasia store?

As for the other construction as of right now it is only taking place outside where the North Garden Wing use to be, so it has no effect on anyone staying in the Tower or South Garden Wing. Finally the rumors are the Concourse Steakhouse and Food & Fun Center would close this October and trade places. Since the Concourse Steakhouse would not be on the Grand Canynon Concourse Level, the rumor is they would change their name to the Waive and serve and Asian themed menu and the Food & Fun Center would change their name to Chef Mickey's Express.
