Well, since we're back, we're planning our next WDW family vacation for the holidays. Right now, I'm thinking 12/27 to 1/2 (yes, the busiest time of the year) and we'll probably rent DVC points. My question is which do you prefer and why: Boardwalk Villas or SSR. While the location and dining at BW is much better, we really do like DTD and would love to be close to it. Additionally, I feel like the pools are more subdued and relaxed (a good thing for us) at SSR. Also, we like the golf courses, spa, and tennis courts. Help!

It will definitely be easier to get a room at SSR at that time over BWV.

It sounds like you really enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of SSR. We did both resorts a few years ago in a split stay and we did feel like we had the best of both worlds on that trip. We had the ease of getting to 2 parks and the BW is just a beautiful resort. Then we moved to SSR and had the relaxing vacation us adults were looking for.

If I had to choose I would pick BW because it just fits well with our family. Both kids and adults are happy at this resort. It's a beauty and the location is the best. Plus it's not as spread out as SSR. That was a down side for us.

Happy planning.:goodvibes

I am a DVC owner. I think it would take a miracle to get BWV for time period when you are less than 7 months out. I'd be grateful to get SSR at this point.

As far as preference; I own at BCV so I would always pick an Epcot area resort.

Are you talking about this year? If so, I'm not sure anything will be available this late. You might be able to snag something at SSR but you need to do it NOW.

Given the choice, I'd probably choose BWV for the convenience to EP. If you plan to spend a lot of time at AK or DHS I'd choose SSR.

Actually BWV is only a 5 min walk to DHS......I vote for BWV if you plan to be near any action, if you are looking for quiet, SSR is your best bet.

Yep! :thumbsup2

We could have purchased SSR for much less and the contract would have lasted longer. But we love the Epcot area and in order to guarantee that we have the best chance of booking in the Epcot area, we purchased BWV instead.

OP, like Pakey said, it would take a miracle to book for this coming Christmas season. There might be scattered days available here and there but you're not very likely to find availability for the entire stay at this point. Most owners are not willing to tie up their points with a waitlist for a renter, either.

Sorry, but booking for Christmas week begins in late March of the same year. In DVC terms, you're coming to the table very late.

It takes a lot longer than 5 mins to walk from BWV to DHS. Just did it last week...more like 15 mins, and we're peppy walkers. It's about 8 mins to Epcot though.

I love BWV, it's one of my home resorts. But it's ridiculously hard to get at some times of year. Dec is one of those times. I tried to book there, for my early Dec trip, back in Feb. Nothing was available!!! Had to settle for SSR...again.
I like SSR well enough. I find it to be very peaceful and pretty there. Much more subdued than BW!! The buses were fine...it takes a fair amount of time to get to where you're going simply due to the size of the resort.
